Lunion Subsector is Subsector K of the Spinward Marches. It is part of the Imperial Domain of Deneb.

Description (Physical Astrography)[edit]

The Lunion Subsector is the Imperial jumping-off point for the Five Sisters Subsector, as well as the major trade connection with the Sword Worlds Subsector. The majority of Lunion is claimed as Imperial space although a small strip of territory along its spinward edge is unclaimed neutral space. [1]

The Abyss Rift which extends through the Lanth Subsector and into Lunion is the subject of some popular speculation as it is widely believed to have been the site of a number of "mysterious starship disappearances" over the years. [2]

Astrographic Features[edit]

The following astrographic data has been determined regarding Lunion Subsector:

  • The subsector is a slightly below average stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Zaibon system.
  • It contains the rimward part of the Abyss Rift, a region of lower stellar density.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Lunion Subsector.

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rifts[edit]

One rift region lies within the subsector:

Trade Routes[edit]

The Spinward Main[edit]

The Spinward Main is the arterial trade route within the Spinward Marches.

High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels laden with goods, commodities, and luxuries move along it, bound for the thriving markets of its member worlds.

  • Worlds on the Main are marked in green.

Local Worlds[edit]

The Main runs through the center of the subsector, dominating local trade and commerce.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Lunion subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Politics and Diplomacy[edit]

Military Forces[edit]

The Lunion Subsector is defended by 43rd Fleet. The fleet has recently been augmented by a squadron of Ulanii class experimental strike cruisers, for which capabilities and precise role remain classified military secrets.[3]

The Ling-Standard Products shipyards at Lunion and Strouden are the major shipbuilding points within the entire Spinward Marches Sector. The excellent workmanship, combined with the TL–13 technology, makes LSP products highly sought after. [1]

Summary[edit]

Symbol Domain of Deneb 2.png

Lunion, subsector K of Spinward Marches, contains 25 worlds with an estimated combined population of 20 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,441, and a total economy of BCr149,573. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr977 through 21 starports (4 Class A, 7 Class B, 8 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 310,960 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, four Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, seven Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Lunion maintain seven Scout bases, four Naval bases, and one Way station. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 6 and 11). The highest technology level is 14 at Tenalphi (Spinward Marches 1826).

Lunion, subsector K of Spinward Marches, contains 37 stars and 247 identified planets; 14 monostellar systems, ten binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 17 of the 25 systems (68%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, three Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, two Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Lunion has an estimated population of 20 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, four Moderate population (Ph) worlds, four Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, ten Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Strouden (Spinward Marches 2327) and Lunion (Spinward Marches 2124). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Third Imperium, Domain of Deneb[edit]

The Third Imperium, Domain of Deneb has jurisdiction over all of the worlds with an estimated combined population of 20 billion, a per capita income of Cr7,441, and a total economy of BCr149,573. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr977 through 21 starports (4 Class A, 7 Class B, 8 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 310,960 people.
