System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Sharrip has a thin oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere tainted by sulfur compounds, and a chilly climate. Sharrip is a planet with very modest mineral wealth and a complete lack of indigenous life. The atmosphere originally consisted mostly of carbon dioxide and due to the greenhouse effect the temperatures were very high.

It orbits within its star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Sharrip is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Sharrip has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Sharrip has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

In 149 Sharrip is the subject of a terraforming project aimed at turning the atmosphere into a breathable type by seeding the planet with specially tailored plankton-like vegetation.

By 1047 the project was far enough ahead that an unprotected human can breathe the air – it just isn't very pleasant – and the project advanced to the next stage, that of establishing plant life on land.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Sharrip has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Sharrip has a population of 50 sophonts (tens).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without significant outside assistance. This may represent a transient population such as the crew of a starship, the final survivors of a dying colony, an advance team setting up to receive colonists, or a small outpost where establishing a colony is not the primary objective.

Sharrip's population consists of the minimal support staff for the starport.[2]

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The following languages are most commonly heard:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Sharrip possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Sharrip has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law (L)[edit]

Sharrip has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]

Sharrip, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.
