Tenalphi is an agricultural world with the potential to become an industrial power.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Lunion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world contains an archaeological site with suspected high-tech remnants of the now-vanished Ancients precursor race.
- A small number of Saurians dwell on the world.
- Tenalphi is a member of the Spinward Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Tenalphi has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x10 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Tenalphi has a tropical climate and a standard oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere, tainted by high carbon-dioxide levels.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Tenalphi is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Tenalphi has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Tenalphi has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Tenalphi was settled in -126 by Sword Worlders from the Sacnoth Dominate and named Dragvendel. It was isolated during the War of the First Rebellion and lost much of its infrastructure and technology during the Fimbulwinter. In 39 the Trailing Assembly established a small penal colony on Dragvendel and began dumping political dissidents there.
The world declared its independence in conjunction with the establishment of the Triple Dominion in 104 and was allowed to get away with this because Dyrnwyn regarded it as worthless. During the 2nd Century, immigrants from both the Imperium and the Sword Worlds settled on Dragvendel and lived in relative harmony. However, during the 3rd Century, territorial disagreements caused friction between various settlements; border disputes occasionally escalated into violence. In 338 a constitutional convention was held and a world government formed. At the same time the name of the world was changed to Tenalphi. The world petitioned to join the Imperium in 369 and became a member in 379. [2]
This world contains an archaeological site believed to be associated with the now-vanished Ancients precursor race.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Tenalphi has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- Tenalphi's excellent starport is a link on the X-boat network and maintains a flotilla of support craft in addition to the modest enforcement and defence force. System defence rests on two old heavy cruisers stripped of their jump drives and converted into monitors.
- Capacity at the shipyards is moderate, but they are busy as Tenalphi has a good reputation for quality and reliability in shipbuilding.
World Population (P)[edit]
Tenalphi has a population of 60,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
During recent years (since the end of the Fifth Frontier War) a small number of Saurians have settled on Tenalphi and are mostly integrated into the local culture.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Tenalphi possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-5.
World Government (G)[edit]
Tenalphi is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
- In theory, any adult is permitted to speak before the electorate on any issue, though this takes the form of video diatribes in most cases, and the number of people reached isn't large unless the speaker has a following.
World Law (L)[edit]
Tenalphi has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Tenalphi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial marquis.
- It holds the estate of the Count of Tenalphi. [3]
