Shirene is an agricultural world with an ideal environment for producing food from plants, animals, or other lifeforms. The system has a population in the hundreds of thousands of sophonts. This world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Lunion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Shirene, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and a baronet, and the fiefdom of a baron. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. Shirene is an agricultural, nonindustrial, pre-rich world with a growing agro-economy, but still lacks an adequate population to expand its economy to a rich status.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This world has promising economic future although it needs to recruit a larger labor force in order to achieve the desired prosperity.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Lunion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors.
- This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- The bright supergiant star Deneb is visible in the sky even during daylight hours.
- Shirene is a member of the Spinward Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Shirene is a trinary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
- The tertiary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Shirene is a chilly agricultural planet.
It orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.
- It receives relatively low levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Shirene is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Shirene has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Shirene has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- The world's oceans are littered with icebergs and pack ice.

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Shirene is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Shirene is wholly owned by the Al Morai merchant line. The world was originally discovered, claimed, and developed by the Exploration Division of Al Morai to supplement its cargo carriers, and Al Morai continues to use Shirene as a base of operations and a source of merchant goods. Large tracts of undeveloped land are reserved for outdoor recreation for the ship crews.[2]
Shirene was first explored and colonized by Imperial settlement during the great wave of Imperial settlement beginning in the 200s. By ca 300s, Shirene had already been fully integrated as full Imperial member world.
In 1095 the revolutionary coup known as the Seventeen Day Democracy on the planet Rabwhar was put down and its leadership fled and settled on Shirene, setting up their exile government, the Democratic Government in Exile of Rabwhar (DGER), which is now based on Shirene. As of 1105 it still claims to be the legitimate rulers of Rabwhar, though the organization has largely degenerated into a band of pirates and raiders.
Shirene is classified as an Amber Zone at the request of its owners.[2]
World Starport (St)[edit]
Shirene has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a Scout Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Shirene has a population of 700,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Riftian Galanglic, one of the principal dialects of one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Worldname possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Shirene is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
Shirene is wholly owned and governed by the Al Morai merchant line corporate leadership structure.
World Law (L)[edit]
Shirene has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Shirene, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdom of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
