Monway Subsector is Subsector C of Theta Borealis Sector.
- It lies within Charted Space.
- On older surveys it may be referred to as the Monway Quadrant.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Monway Subsector is a settled region on the frontier of Balkanized Space.
- The resources of the subsector are being exploited.
Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]
The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined:
- The subsector is a standard stellar density region.
- One small rift region lies within the subsector.
- The brightest star is the white giant primary of the Pacadia system.
- Important trade routes include the Korsumug Main and The Oujda Trade.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Monway Subsector, right:
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Rift Regions[edit]
One small rift area lies within the subsector: the coreward part of the Thetan Void.
A simple map showing rift regions within Monway Subsector:
Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based on Jump Drive performance.
The highest tech level commonly encountered out this Far Along (spinward of the Third Imperium) is TL–12, though a few worlds may be more advanced.
- This level of technology allows the routine use of up to Jump-3 drives.
- Areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
Borealis Group[edit]
The subsector forms part of the Borealis Group, a gigantic, broadly spherical cluster of stars centered on Theta Borealis Sector.
- It is a distinctive, extremely bright feature that can be easily observed from all across Charted Space.
- It is more than 40 parsecs in diameter.
- It contains an unusually high number of giant stars.
- It is the density of giant stars within the region, rather than their individual brightness, that makes the feature so prominent.
Chains of giant stars trail out from the cluster into many of the surrounding sectors.
The night-time skies of all of the worlds across the region are studded with a panoply of colorful, intensely bright stars.
- Some are so bright that they can be clearly seen from planetary surfaces during daylight hours.
- The brightest is Theta Borealis, an unstable, violent, blue-white bright supergiant with a luminosity of around 73,000 sols.
- Other extremely bright stars within the cluster include Sigma Borealis, Tau Borealis, Epsilon Borealis, Mu Borealis, and Kappa Borealis.
- While the cluster contains many extremely luminous giant stars, Theta B is exponentially brighter than any of the others.
Uncharted Anomaly[edit]
The "Enigma of Theta Borealis" is a mysterious astrographic feature.
- It is believed to be an uncharted space-time anomaly
- Its precise location, nature, and characteristics remain unknown.
- It is believed to lie across parts of Monway Subsector and Banderhue Subsector.
World Listing[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Monway Subsector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Monway Subsector is a relatively developed region with commercial and industrial activity within its borders.
Continental Lines provides shipping to worlds in the spinward part of the subsector.
Polity Listing[edit]
The following polities can be found within this subsector:
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Military Forces[edit]
The powerful Trooles Confederation Navy dominates the region.
- Very occasionally, far-flung Jaibok raiders, elements of the Imperial Korsumug Navy, operate within the subsector.
The Oujda Trade[edit]
The Oujda Trade is the name given to a trading route between the advanced world of Oujda and the Trooles Confederation. It is a jump-2 route that winds between the better quality starports along the coreward edge of the subsector.
- The Confederation and Oujda have an economic and defensive alliance.
- Oujda constructs a significant percentage of The Confederation's starships and spacecraft.
- Oujda provides almost all of the vehicles and weapons used by The Confederation.
- The world supplies a constant stream of advanced consumer goods and products.
Native Sophonts[edit]
No Sophont species are believed to have originated in this area.
Demographics[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:

Subsector Summary[edit]
Note that this section is awaiting an AAB Interal Records update.
Monway, subsector C of Theta Borealis, contains 25 worlds with an estimated combined population of 11 billion, a per capita income of Cr2,245, and a total economy of BCr26,189. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr261 through 18 starports (3 Class A, 6 Class B, 5 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 28,500 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Monway maintain one Naval base and one Scout base. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 4 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Nedric (Theta Borealis 1903).
Monway, subsector C of Theta Borealis, contains 37 stars and 241 identified planets; 17 monostellar systems, five binary systems, two trinary systems, and one system with four or more stars. 10 of the 25 systems (40%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, one Desert (De) world, one Garden (Ga) world, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, three Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Monway has an estimated population of 11 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 13 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, three Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population worlds are Basgem (Theta Borealis 2208) and Hevad (Theta Borealis 1906). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]
There are 21 Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Monway with an estimated combined population of 11 billion.
Trooles Confederation[edit]
The Trooles Confederation has jurisdiction over four worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy of BCr0. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr0 through 3 starports (0 Class A, 1 Class B, 1 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 15 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Nedric (Theta Borealis 1903).
