Tongal is a nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Trooles Confederation in the Monway Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • This is a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
  • It is a member of the Korsumug Main.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Tongal is a quaternary star system.

  • The primary is a white main sequence.
  • The secondary is an orange main sequence.
  • The tertiary is a white main sequence.
  • The quaternary is a white dwarf stellar remnant
Tongal has four stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the outer system.

Chart Orbit Outer Region.png

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Tongal is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Tongal has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Tongal has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Satellites[edit]

Tongal retains a tiny, heavily cratered planetoid moon named Dissa.

  • It orbits once every few hours.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Tongal is a remote outpost controlled by the Trooles Confederation Navy.

  • Some of the planets and moons within the system have never had an intelligent being visit them.
  • The resources of the system are largely untapped.

There is limited activity within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is very infrequent: ships rarely visit, despite the world lying on the Korsumug Main.
  • Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • The system does not have any commercial navigation beacons.
  • Vessels rarely operate among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
  • Naval vessels may be active in the system.

It is a Forbidden World and is designated as a Red Zone. It presents serious risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors.

  • Travel to this world is prohibited.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Tongal does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Population (P)[edit]

Tongal has a population of 500,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Urbanization[edit]

A single large urban center is surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed.
  • Most of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Tongal possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Tongal has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 1500 personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Tongal has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 7 (few)
  • Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 3 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: 5 (concrete)
