Candri is a low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment .

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Candri has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a white main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Candri is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Candri has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Candri has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere. Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials (chiefly titanium dioxide (TiO2)) by stellar energy.

  • Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as volcanism, seismic activity, and erosion.
  • The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with reactive surface materials: a rough equilibrium between oxygen production and depletion exists.
  • The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Candri has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

Satellites[edit]

Candri retains two small trace atmosphere moons.

  • They orbit once every few weeks.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Candri is a commercial outpost with no domestic development.

  • It is an important trade and communications hub.
  • The resources of the system are largely untapped.

A few organizations and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is frequent, primarily consisting of vessels moving along the Korsumug Main.
  • Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A vessel or two may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

This world is served by Continental Lines, a major shipping corporation in Human-controlled parts of Theta Borealis Sector.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Candri has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Candri has a population of 2,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.

Approximately 100 Burugdi (representing around 5% of the population) are resident on the world.

  • They live within an isolated, well-defended enclave.
  • The human inhabitants do not trust them.

Urbanization[edit]

A few small urban areas each surrounded by satellite communities.

  • The population inhabit a single relatively large region.
  • Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Candri possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Candri is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Military[edit]

Privately retained security forces.

World Law (L)[edit]

Red dashes show Continental Lines shipping services

Candri has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 0 (unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 8 (moderate)
  • Labor: 2 (hundreds)
  • Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
  • Efficiency: -2 (fair)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
