Kanell is an agricultural world.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Monway Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- It is a member of the Korsumug Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Kanell has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x11 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Kanell is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Kanell has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Kanell has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Kanell retains a small, relatively close trace atmosphere moon.
- It orbits once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Kanell is relatively busy, with a thriving agricultural economy that supplies nearby Basgem with the majority of its food. It is hampered by a very low technological base.
- Information about the system is limited.
- The resources of the mainworld are being exploited.
There is some activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is occasional, despite the world lying on the Korsumug Main. It mainly consists of large freighters delivering processed nutrients and collecting agricultural goods.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter from imported devices. Communications are in local languages and Riftian Anglic.
- A single commercial navigation beacon may be active.
- Vessels rarely operate among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
It is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Kanell has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Kanell has a population of 60,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas and huge farms are dotted across the world.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Kanell possesses a Technology Level of TL–2.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay, the printing press, long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Water wheels and wind power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding beasts and creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
World Government (G)[edit]
Kanell is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 250,000 personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Kanell has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
