Pacadia is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Monway Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- It orbits the secondary star.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Pacadia is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent blue-white giant.
- The secondary is a white main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the secondary star.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds, all orbiting the secondary star.
- x2 planetoid belts, both orbiting the primary star.
- x1 gas giant, orbiting the secondary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the secondary star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Pacadia is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Pacadia has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Pacadia has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Pacadia retains two small vacuum moons.
- They orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive aquatic native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Pacadia is a quiet backwater with very little development.
- The resources of the system are gradually being exploited.
A few organizations and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is sporadic: ships occasionally visit.
- Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
- Vessels rarely operate among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Pacadia has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Pacadia has a population of 80,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
A few small urban areas surrounded by satellite communities.
- Outlying areas have a few isolated structures or compounds.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Pacadia possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Pacadia has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World Military[edit]
Each nation on the world maintains a Self Defense Force, consisting of a small unit of professional soldiers.
- Citizen militias can be called to arms as required.
World Law (L)[edit]
Pacadia has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 6 (few)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 2 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 4 (concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
