Reerack is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Monway Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- It is a member of the Korsumug Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Reerack is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent red giant named Barabadu.
- The secondary is a white dwarf stellar remnant named Spark.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the primary star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits far inside the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Reerack is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Reerack has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Reerack has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Reerack retains two small trace atmosphere moons named Break and Trinagel.
- They orbit once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Reerack is a quiet backwater with a stable economy and acceptable standards of living. The world is an important link in the local economy, exporting a variety of raw and processed agricultural products. It has no government structure beyond the immediate family and is widely considered a planet of anarchist farmers.
- The system has been settled for centuries.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
A number of organizations and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is frequent, largely consisting of vessels moving along the Korsumug Main.
- Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A number of vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Reerack has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Reerack has a population of 200,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
A number of small urban centers are surrounded by satellite communities and huge farms.
- The population are concentrated into a single relatively densely populated region of the surface.
- Much of the world remains as untamed wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Reerack possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Reerack has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
World Military[edit]
Individual communities field local citizen-militias.
World Law (L)[edit]
Reerack has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 6 (limited)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 7 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
