Surgian Subsector is Subsector O of Astron Sector.
- It lies within Charted Space.
- It is a lawless, undeveloped frontier.
Description / Specifications[edit]
Surigan Subsector is a largely unpopulated and undeveloped frontier area, with many worlds offering rich opportunities to those willing to brave the dangers they present. Some worlds within the region may never have had an intelligent being visit them.
- The resources of the subsector remain entirely untapped.
Astrographic Features & Trade Routes: 1105[edit]
The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Surgian Subsector:
- The subsector is a relatively low stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the white subgiant primary of the Quebi system.
- There is one rift region within the subsector.
- No trade routes are noted as crossing the region.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Surgian Subsector, right:
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Rift Regions[edit]
One rift region lies within the subsector: the Lagoon Void.
- The Void covers the coreward-trailing part of the subsector: it is a named region of the Astron Voids.
- The Voids are considered to be part of The Gulfs, an extended region of the Idella Rift.

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based on Jump Drive performance.
The highest tech level commonly encountered out this Far Along (spinward of the Third Imperium) is TL–12, though a few worlds may be more advanced.
- This level of technology allows the routine use of up to Jump-3 drives.
- Areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
Borealis Group[edit]
The Borealis Group can be seen as a bright, dense, noticeable grouping of stars in the skies to rimward.
- It is a huge cluster of stars centered on the supergiant Theta Borealis.
- It is a distinctive astrographic feature that can be observed from all across Charted Space.
World Listing: 1105[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Surgian Subsector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.

Note that this section is awaiting an AAB Interal Records update.
History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Surigan Subsector is a remote backwater with little activity or development within its borders.
Rarely, the following groups may be encountered:
- Patrolling vessels of the Trooles Confederation Navy.
- Small numbers of human pioneers and explorers of assorted origin.
- Rag-tag human refugees from rimward, fleeing the Jaibok raiding.
- Small numbers of Jaibok and Jansa raiders.
Military Forces: 1105[edit]
The Astron Frontier Patrol, a powerful flotilla of the Trooles Confederation Navy, patrols the region.
Far-flung Jaibok raiders, elements of the Imperial Korsumug Navy, very occasionally operate within the subsector.
- It is believed that the Jansa, allies of the Jaibok, may have established one or more covert bases within the region.
- These may be connected to naval operations, raiding, or espionage missions against the Trooles Confederation.
Polity Listing: 1105[edit]
No polities are known to exist within (or make any claim upon) the subsector.
Native Sophonts (NILs): 1105[edit]
The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated in this area:
- Pumiai of Surgian. Tall, leathery winged, lightly built semi-humanoid flyers from a hot arid world.
- Spatharo of Lenyfoqe. Strong, warlike, traditionalist, six-limbed reptilianiods from a tropical high gravity world.
Demographics: 1105[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:
Major Historical Events Timeline: 1105[edit]
- 300-420: First Survey charts the subsector.
- ca 500s: Jaibok raiders of the resurgent Korsumug Empire become active on the Korsumug Main.
- 995-1065: Second Survey charts the subsector.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
