The Jansa of Jansazar (Mavuzog 3120) are a Minor Non-Human Race with a Non-humanoid appearance. They are technologically developing sophonts.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Jansa are a minor sophont species. They are essentially the "second race" of the Korsumug Empire, serving as advisors and officers for the Jaibok.
Physiology[edit]
Jansa are trilateral, short, spindly, insect-like scavengers with manipulative attitudes, a strong sense of destiny, and a dark agenda.
The Jansa are a nocturnal species.
Vision is centered around 800 nm, giving them sensitivity to the ANI (Aglow / Near Infrared / Infrared) part of the spectrum. Jansa find light levels that are comfortable to Humans to be far too bright. Most Jansa wear hooded cloaks and eye protection when operating in daylight.
The Jansa do not cope well with low berths.
Homeworld[edit]
Jansazar, a standard atmosphere tropical world located in Pyruvat Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Little is known about the species' primal ancestors.
The Jansa were technologically advanced by the time they were first encountered by Terran explorers, around -2389 / ca 2130AD. Although it has never been clear exactly how, they acquired knowledge of jump technology from these first far-flung Human travellers. By the middle years of the -2300s / ca 2170 AD they had constructed at least one operational FTL vessel, becoming the first species native to the sector to have independent jump capability.
The Jansa slowly explored their local region and discovered the Jaibok of Vech. Evidence suggests that Human explorers had contacted the Jaibok around a decade earlier, but didn't survive the experience.
First contact between Jansa and Jaibok is considered to be the beginning of the Korsumug Empire.
Society & Culture[edit]
Both sexes of Jansa are active in politics and military intelligence.
Jansazar is a member of the Korsumug Empire, and the Jansa are the willing assistants and henchmen of the Jaibok.
- "For every atrocity committed by a Jaibok, there is a Jansa whispering from the shadows, urging it on to ever greater depravities."
The Jansa operate small stealthy spy-ships for the Empire. These act as couriers, as sensor outposts, as communications relays, and as command vessels.
