The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Solomani Confederation.
 +
* It is a relatively low stellar density region.
 +
* The brightest star is Beta Eridani, the blue-white giant primary of the Beta Eridani system.

* The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
 +

 +
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
 +
* Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
 +
* Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding the subsector:

Astrographic Features[edit]

The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Solomani Confederation.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

 • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
 • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

Trade Routes[edit]

Borethane Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Orizaba Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Severn Cluster. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).

Three trade routes, the important Borethane Cluster and the minor Orizaba and Severn Clusters, lie within the region. High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels move along them, carrying large amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.

Less profitable higher jump rating merchant vessels conduct trade and commerce among the region's outlying worlds.

Borethane Cluster[edit]

The Borethane Cluster is a cluster located primarily within the spinward-coreward quadrant of Neworld Sector, lying across the border of Aldebaran at its rimward end.

Orizaba Cluster[edit]

The Orizaba Cluster has six member systems. It lies at the junction of Wovoka, Firdausi, Quesada, and Kursa Subsectors.

Severn Cluster[edit]

The Severn Cluster is primarily located in Kursa.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that lie within Kursa Subsector is available.

 • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
 • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
 • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

17 Worlds in the Kursa Subsector
Acton  •  Algidus II  •  Alhena  •  Beta Eridani  •  Boise  •  Caletor I  •  Corvalis 6  •  Koniev  •  Lavinia  •  Lutsk  •  Nakamura  •  Nizar  •  Nuan  •  Panjnad  •  Sarny  •  Sinai  •  Spokane  •

Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, may already be out of date.

 • Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

During the Rule of Man the subsector was associated with the Terran Mercantile Community, a large paramilitary corporation that became the foundation for the Old Earth Union during the Long Night.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.

Subsector Summary[edit]

Kursa, subsector H of Aldebaran, contains 17 worlds with an estimated combined population of 545 million, a per capita income of Cr1,598, and a total economy of BCr871. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr274 through 10 starports (3 Class A, 1 Class B, 3 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 40,865 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, three Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Kursa maintain one Naval base and one Military base. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at Nizar (Aldebaran 2615).

Kursa, subsector H of Aldebaran, contains 19 stars and 185 identified planets; 16 monostellar systems, no binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 16 of the 17 systems (94%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, four Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Kursa has an estimated population of 545 million distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, eight Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Nakamura (Aldebaran 2519). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups including one native sophont.

3 identified sophont populations in Kursa

Non-Aligned[edit]

There are four Non-Aligned worlds in Kursa with an estimated combined population of 12 million.
