Afawahisa style="width: 250px; height: 350px; border: solid 1px black; float: right; clear: left" | |||||||||||||||||
Afawahisa Sector is located in the Aslan Hierate, in a spinward region of Charted Space.
- The Great Rift borders its settled worlds, creating a strategic barrier.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Afawahisa contains four subsectors of high stellar density, which are wholly within Hierate space. Five other subsectors contain a narrow strip of Aslan worlds along their trailing or rimward edges, with the remaining subsectors lying wholly within the Great Rift.
Aslan explorers pushed into the Rift in search of a way across, and once they found a suitable route, interest waned. Expeditions into coreward Afawahisa from the Hierate are therefore rare. As with Touchstone Sector, Human names for many subsectors are in common use outside the Hierate.

Linguistic Topography: 1116[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Trokh: The common language of Aslan who conform to the modern monoculture established after the Aslan Cultural Purge.
- Aslan Languages: Some clans retain obscure or archaic languages in addition to Trokh.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This sector's modern history is defined by Aslan colonization.
Native Sophonts (NIL): 1105[edit]
The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated within this area:
- Humaniti (Human Races)
- The Human inhabitants of isolated Kifnell are of uncertain ancestry but may be a distinct Human Minor Race.
- Non-Human Races
- Krayl'luk
- "Little Cousins" of Urlich's Find (Afawahisa 0228)
- An aquatic psionic species of Tlaistole' is considered to be semi-sapient.
- Terragens (Non-Human Terran Races)
- None
Demographics: 1105[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:
- Humaniti (Human Races)
- Inhabitants of Kifnell.
- Solomani (Major Race): Mostly as Hierate citizens on Woi'akiyo.
- Vilani (Major Race): Mostly as Hierate citizens on Woi'akiyo.
- Non-Human Races
- Ascondi: Communities of this race are scattered along the edge of the Great Rift and on worlds inside of it. There is no overarching government.
- Aslan (Major Race)
- Chirper: Some records suggest Chirper populations on at least two worlds.
- Krayl'luk: Vassals of the Tralyeaeawi, incorporated into the Hierate.
- "Little Cousins" of Urlich's Find: Confined to their homeworld, but numerous there.
- Terragens (Non-Human Terran Races)

Historical Eras[edit]
General Overview[edit]
This sector is poorly surveyed outside of the Clan settlement patterns of the Aslan. Prior to the arrival of the Aslan, very little is known of its history.
Pre-History[edit]
Involvement of the Ancients has not been reported in this sector with any certainty. That does not mean that they did not travel through or stop in the region. It is possible that the Human inhabitants of Kifnell were placed there by the Ancients. There are also a few reported Chirper settlements, but their age is uncertain.
The archaeologists Fteali'KhuhiYulifTaheEhtowi and RHaiftoHeali'LokhtafSalei famously discovered an abandoned base in the sector, at which they found documents from earlier Aslan explorers referring to what might be Ancient sites. For this discovery, the two won the prestigious HrefsoitaktoTyafloiteiRttyeif (Honour Chest of Enlightenment) from AuhafyiTyafloiteiRttyeif.
Spacefaring races were apparently active here in the time between the Ancients and the rise of the Vilani, though as ever this is controversial. This might represent Kursae activity. Evidence includes the following:
- Ruins dating back perhaps 200,000 years on Ahyulafa, belonging to what was clearly a technological society and arranged in a manner that suggests colonisation. It is also claimed that a derelict colony ship, formed from a hollowed-out asteroid, was found drifting in the outsystem.
- Ruins dating back 100,000 years or more are found at Herebedragons, deep in the Great Rift within Hkyewaol Subsector. The vacuum environment has preserved the remains well; the settlement appears to have been created by a species roughly about the size of a Human or Aslan, using materials consistent with a TL-12 to TL-14 civilisation.
- Wreckage found in a shallow sea on Khtekhheaw (Ahesailiyhah Subsector) appears to be a large starship of unknown origin and great age.
- Yalroeroh is a world that has apparently been terraformed. This hypothesis is supported by the existence of the Yalroeroh Spires, tall pillars which could not have formed by any known natural process.
Spread of the Ascondi[edit]
While the agency of their spread has not been identified, the Ascondi have apparently been present in the sector for longer than they know or care to share.
Arrival of the Clans[edit]
The Aslan do not keep extensive public records, but are estimated to have first entered Afawahisa Sector in the later centuries of the Long Night, at the peak of their expansion push to Spinward. Some Clans would stop here and stake claims, while others would push on. By the time the Aslan Hierate stabilized, Afawahisa was old and well settled territory.
Sector Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this sector and the wider region that it lies within:
- -2083: The Aslan Hierate is formally founded: this marks the traditional beginning of the modern era of Aslan history.
- -1999: Aslan discover the Jump Drive.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night.
- -1118 to 380: the Aslan Border Wars.
- -50 to 50: The Aslan Cultural Purge imposes a monolithic culture on the Aslan.
- The Year 0: the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the sector.
- 380: the Peace of Ftahalr ends the ongoing Aslan Border Wars and establishes understandings regarding human and Aslan influence.
- 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey includes data for the sector.
- 1065: the Imperial Second Survey is published. Information about the sector becomes widely available.
Politics & Diplomacy (Interstellar Relations)[edit]
A complication of space travel in Aslan territory is the possibility of encounters with vessels of a hostile clan. When vessels belonging to clans which are at war come into contact, their actions are governed by the rules applicable to that particular clan war. A chase and battle might ensue; ritualized games like deliberate near-misses might take place; insults and threats might be exchanged; or nothing at all might happen.
