The corporation was founded by the Hlewala clan in the early days of Aslan space exploration, prior to the development of the jump drive. Iyalil benefited greatly from the rush into space, providing ship hulls and producing terraforming and life support gear for new colonies. During the Aslan Cultural Purge, the Hlewala leadership argued with Iyalil management -- the Hlewela males were hidebound traditionalists, while the female managers were more sympathetic with the outer colonies. Divisions grew until Iyalil split from the clan and went independent.

The bounty of the Yekhekiysi' Belt at Eafoarei helped fuel the growth of the company.
