Yaioukh is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This world is part of the Aslan Hierate, as a single multiple-world clan dominate, in the Htaoeasee Subsector of Afawahisa Sector.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Yaioukh is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Yaioukh has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Yaioukh has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Yaioukh is home to a variety of hostile creatures, many of which resemble heavily protected crustaceans. They require significant firepower to repel.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

A rough new colony.

There is no industry on Yaioukh and little agriculture. Once enough territory has been pacified, these activities will begin in earnest but for now the world is more a war zone than anything -- native wildlife proving very tenacious. Matters are not helped by rivalry among landowners trying to outdo one another for how much territory they can get under control by the next meeting.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Yaioukh does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Population (P)[edit]

Yaioukh has a population of 2,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • The population consists of Aslan.

World Languages[edit]

  • Trokh: The universal language of the modern Aslan monoculture.
    • Aslan Languages: Note that some Aslan clans retain obscure or archaic languages for personal use in addition to Trokh.

Urbanization[edit]

Aslan architecture tends to the organic and the rounded. They favour artistry over efficiency in the design of their buildings -- every Aslan structure is different. Even in mass-produced housing, residents will strive to make their territory uniquely theirs.

  • Since Aslan descend from predators and enjoy open terrain, their buildings often feature both open rooms of great size and a number of concealed rooms, balconies, hidden passageways and hideaways.

World Government (G)[edit]

Yaioukh is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

Various clans and landowners meet regularly to discuss the process of continued colonization -- and to posture to one another regarding their own success.

World Law Level (L)[edit]

Yaioukh has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

This colony is technically lawless, though Aslan cultural norms are in play here:

Criminal acts are rare but not unheard of in Aslan society. Crimes are different from the insults or slurs that provoke duels, and are classified into three categories: crimes of passion, crimes with victims, and crimes of honour.

  • Crimes of passion involve misbehavior prompted by temper, anger, or provocation. The accused is judged by the head of the family, pride, or clan involved.
  • Crimes with victims involve taking money or items of value, or violating the person of another for profit (kidnapping, terrorism, piracy). General practice is to have an impartial earleatrais consider the case and present findings.
  • Crimes of honour involve failure to observe the rituals established for social behaviour. Judgement is made by the pride or clan head, depending on the severity of the crime. Crimes of honour are the most serious in Aslan society; in practice, most are never tried as a duel to the death occurs first.

World Technology Level (TL)[edit]

The Tech Level is listed as 0. Colonising clans and pioneers have equipment of various tech levels.

World Culture[edit]

The war against Yaioukh's native life has produced several near-legendary figures, both inventive female trappers and male warriors.
