Description / Specifications[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

Noung Subsector is a populated and prosperous region dominated by the Vargr, in spite of its proximity to the Third Empire of Gashikan.

  • The resources of the subsector are being exploited.

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Noung Subsector:

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Noung Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Trade Routes[edit]

Last Bridge. (Chart sourced from Traveller Map).

The Nudashiir Lagani[edit]

The trailing worlds of the subsector lie on the Nudashiir Lagani, the great Lishun-Gashikan Main.

  • An eclectic mix of vessels, both Human and Vargr, work their ways along the Main, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between its member worlds.

A basic chart of the Nudashiir Lagani is shown, right:

  • Worlds on the Main are highlighted in green.

The Last Bridge[edit]

A single world on the rimward edge of the subsector is a member of The Last Bridge, a war-ravaged chain of systems with a dark reputation for espionage and intrigue. It is known as the Lluutan to the Vargr.

A basic chart of the Bridge is shown, right:

  • Worlds lying on the Main are highlighted in tan.

World Listing[edit]

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.
7 Worlds in the Noung Subsector
  •  Ghaeontoeng  •    •  Kfullaerr  •  Oho  •  Ouaeghuerrou  •  Uegaksa  •  Vacstee  •  Zogodhaeth  •

Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.

  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
  • Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

Subsector Summary[edit]

Noung, subsector H of Gzaekfueg, contains 31 worlds with an estimated combined population of 2 billion, a per capita income of Cr586, and a total economy of BCr1,517. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr21 through 25 starports (2 Class A, 3 Class B, 15 Class C, 5 Class D) employing 2,290 people. Driving this interstellar trade are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Noung maintain four Naval bases, four Corsair bases, and four Scout bases. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 3 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Ouaeghuerrou (Gzaekfueg 2818) and Oho (Gzaekfueg 3018).

Noung, subsector H of Gzaekfueg, contains 47 stars; 20 monostellar systems, eight binary systems, one trinary system, and two systems with four or more stars. 26 of the 31 systems (83%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, one Desert (De) world, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, three Poor (Po) worlds, five Vacuum (Va) worlds, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Noung has an estimated population of 2 billion distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 25 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, ten Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Vacstee (Gzaekfueg 3119), Utsaezu (Gzaekfueg 2813), Uegaksa (Gzaekfueg 2520), and Ondshass (Gzaekfueg 3118). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

2 identified sophont populations in Noung

Non-Aligned, Vargr-dominated[edit]

There are 11 Non-Aligned, Vargr-dominated worlds in Noung with an estimated combined population of 860 million.

Ruler of Five[edit]

The Ruler of Five has jurisdiction over nine worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 626 million, a per capita income of Cr581, and a total economy of BCr364. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr14 through 6 starports (1 Class A, 1 Class B, 4 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 1,455 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Ruler of Five maintain two Naval bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 6 (with most between 2 and 10). The highest technology level is 11 at Tarrgoengouk (Gzaekfueg 2515) and Ourrkazthodz (Gzaekfueg 2517).

The Ruler of Five has an estimated population of 626 million within the subsector, distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, seven Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, one Low population (Lo) world, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Uegaksa (Gzaekfueg 2520). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Third Empire of Gashikan[edit]

The Third Empire of Gashikan has jurisdiction over seven worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 1 billion, a per capita income of Cr718, and a total economy of BCr790. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr0 through 7 starports (0 Class A, 0 Class B, 4 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 270 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Third Empire of Gashikan maintain four Scout bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 4 and 11). The highest technology level is 12 at Oho (Gzaekfueg 3018).

The Third Empire of Gashikan has an estimated population of 1 billion within the subsector, distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, five Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Vacstee (Gzaekfueg 3119) and Ondshass (Gzaekfueg 3118). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Drr'lana Network[edit]

The Drr'lana Network has jurisdiction over four worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy of BCr0. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr1 through 3 starports (0 Class A, 0 Class B, 3 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 90 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Drr'lana Network maintain one Corsair base within the subsector. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 7 and 9). The highest technology level is 9 at Gzitsezoegh (Gzaekfueg 3012) and Gheguesae (Gzaekfueg 3112).

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Vilani had contact with the Gvegh, Aekhu and Logaksu before -2400 in regions such as Provence Sector, though the Vargr were initially seen more as a curiosity than a threat. The Vargr in turn learned of the vast, immensely wealthy, and militarily weak human empire, a temptation that was impossible for them to ignore. Within a few decades the Vargr were actively raiding Vilani settlements in Windhorn and Corridor Sectors. The Vilani in turn moved the majority of their defenses towards these areas.

Other Vargr racial groups (the proto-Irilitok, Ovaghoun, Suedzuk and Urzaeng) took longer to find a path around the coreward end of the Windhorn Rift, but when routes were eventually found they made a beeline for the poorly defended coreward edge of the Ziru Sirka and its riches.
