Description (Specifications)

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Zarn Subsector:

Astrographic Features

The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Solomani Confederation.

  • It is an average stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Kelheim system.

Development of this subsector is haphazard. There are a great many worlds with only E-class starports and a full six systems carrying Red Zone classification.

Stellar Distribution

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Zarn Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Security & Defense

The worlds of the sector are patrolled by the Solomani Navy. It defends Confederation territory, protects Confederation interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.

World Listing

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that lie within Zarn Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Aslan are uniformly less likely to be cooperative with Solomani interests, but almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, while others can be manipulated or coerced.

Subsector Summary

Zarn, subsector H of Canopus, contains 28 worlds with an estimated combined population of 8 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,087, and a total economy of BCr48,715. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr425 through 12 starports (2 Class A, 5 Class B, 3 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 67,210 people. Driving this interstellar trade are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Zarn maintain three Naval bases and one Military base. The average technology level is 6 (with most between 2 and 10). The highest technology level is 14 at Aedes (Canopus 3111).

Zarn, subsector H of Canopus, contains 39 stars and 313 identified planets; 17 monostellar systems, 11 binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 26 of the 28 systems (92%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, five Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, three Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, seven Poor (Po) worlds, ten Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Zarn has an estimated population of 8 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, ten Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 11 Low population (Lo) worlds, and five Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Cassio (Canopus 3020) and Coraxon 4 (Canopus 2617). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups including one native sophont.

Solomani Confederation

The Solomani Confederation has jurisdiction over 21 worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 5 billion, a per capita income of Cr8,202, and a total economy of BCr41,022. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr424 through 8 starports (1 Class A, 5 Class B, 1 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 67,130 people. Driving this interstellar trade are two Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in the Solomani Confederation maintain one Naval base and one Military base within the subsector. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 3 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at Keel (Canopus 2817) and Cassio (Canopus 3020).

The Solomani Confederation has an estimated population of 5 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, seven Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, ten Low population (Lo) worlds, and three Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Cassio (Canopus 3020). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups including one native sophont.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated

There are five Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Zarn with an estimated combined population of 3 billion.

Non-Aligned, unclaimed

There are two Non-Aligned unclaimed worlds in Zarn with an estimated combined population of less than 1 million.
