The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Rangiriri Subsector:

Astrographic Features[edit]

The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Solomani Confederation.

  • It is an average stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the orange giant primary of the Dheneb system.

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes[edit]

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this area:

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Rangiriri Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rift Regions[edit]

The subsector contains two rift regions:

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic and commercial concept based on Jump Drive performance.

  • Most commercial vessels typically use Jump Drives capable of Jump-3 or less.
  • Areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
  • Rifts represent a considerable obstacle to interstellar trade and commerce.

Security & Defense[edit]

The worlds of the sector are patrolled by the Solomani Navy. It defends Confederation territory, protects Confederation interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that lie within Rangiriri Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Aslan are uniformly less likely to be cooperative with Solomani interests, but almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, while others can be manipulated or coerced.

Subsector Summary[edit]

Rangiriri, subsector G of Canopus, contains 27 worlds with an estimated combined population of 50 billion, a per capita income of Cr9,303, and a total economy of BCr467,297. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr349 through 17 starports (4 Class A, 3 Class B, 6 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 66,555 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Rangiriri maintain four Naval bases and three Military bases. The average technology level is 6 (with most between 4 and 9). The highest technology level is 14 at Ariette (Canopus 1918).

Rangiriri, subsector G of Canopus, contains 39 stars and 312 identified planets; 16 monostellar systems, ten binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 21 of the 27 systems (77%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, four Poor (Po) worlds, eight Vacuum (Va) worlds, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Rangiriri has an estimated population of 50 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, nine Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 11 Low population (Lo) worlds, and two Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Ariette (Canopus 1918) and Biton (Canopus 1717). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups.

Solomani Confederation[edit]

The Solomani Confederation has jurisdiction over 20 worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 30 billion, a per capita income of Cr13,036, and a total economy of BCr394,097. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr349 through 12 starports (3 Class A, 3 Class B, 3 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 66,555 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in the Solomani Confederation maintain three Naval bases and three Military bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 4 and 9). The highest technology level is 14 at Ariette (Canopus 1918).

The Solomani Confederation has an estimated population of 30 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, one Moderate population (Ph) world, seven Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, eight Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population world is Ariette (Canopus 1918). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]

There are six Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Rangiriri with an estimated combined population of 20 billion.

Non-Aligned, unclaimed[edit]

There is one Non-Aligned unclaimed world in Rangiriri with an estimated population of less than 1 million.
