Quince is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Rangiriri Subsector of Canopus Sector.
- It orbits the system's tertiary star.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Ariette-Biton Cluster.
- It is directly administered by Ariette.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Quince is a trinary star system.
- The primary is a white main sequence.
- The secondary is a white main sequence.
- The tertiary is an orange main sequence.
Quince has three stars in the star system. Primary

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the tertiary star.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds, all orbiting the tertiary star.
- x2 very extensive planetoid belts, both orbiting the primary-secondary binary stars.
- x3 gas giants, all orbiting the tertiary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Quince orbits within the prime region of the tertiary star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Quince is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Quince has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Quince has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Quince is a member of the Ariette-Biton Cluster, a cluster and trade route lying within the coreward-trailing quadrant of Canopus Sector.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Quince has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Quince has a population of 700,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- French, a Terran language widely spoken across the Confederation.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Quince possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Quince has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
It is directly administered by the governmental authorities on Ariette.
World Law (L)[edit]
Quince has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 7 (few)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 6 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
- Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
