Subsector F of Spinward Marches Sector. Vilis Subsector is the communications link extending along the Imperial border from Regina. A chain of Imperial worlds plunges through the heart of the the subsector. While the coreward portion of the region is a demilitarized neutral zone shared with the Zhodani Consulate, the rimward edge of Vilis borders on the loose confederation known as the Sword Worlds. In times of tension, the exposed location of this subsector makes the area a prime military position.

The Vilis Subsector is defended by 23rd Fleet until the Fifth Frontier War and the 193rd Fleet thereafter.

Physical Astrography[edit]

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this subsector:

Astrographic Features[edit]

The following astrographic data has been determined regarding Vilis Subsector:

  • The subsector is a slightly below average stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Frenzie system.
  • It contains the Abyss Rift, a region of lower stellar density.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Vilis Subsector.

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rifts[edit]

One rift region lies within the subsector:

Trade Routes[edit]

The Spinward Main[edit]

The Spinward Main is the arterial trade route within the Spinward Marches. It passes through Vilis Subsector.

High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels laden with goods, commodities, and luxuries move along it, bound for the thriving markets of its member worlds.

  • Worlds on the Main are marked in green.

Local Worlds[edit]

The worlds lying along the coreward edge of the subsector are members of the Main.

A single world to rimward, Margesi, lies on another branch of the Main.

Native Sophonts[edit]

The following races are believed to have originated in this area:

Politics and Diplomacy : Milieu 1116[edit]

The coreward portion of the subsector is the demilitarized neutral zone established after the Third Frontier War. Along the Imperial border runs the Xboat route which connects Regina (Spinward Marches 1910) with the subsector capital at Frenzie (Spinward Marches 1116).

Demographics[edit]

Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this subsector:

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Vilis Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Vilis, subsector F of Spinward Marches, contains 26 worlds with an estimated combined population of 10 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,528, and a total economy of BCr47,685. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr122 through 15 starports (2 Class A, 5 Class B, 6 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 20,930 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Vilis maintain three Naval bases and one Scout base. The average technology level is 6 (with most between 3 and 9). The highest technology level is 12 at Tremous Dex (Spinward Marches 1311).

Vilis, subsector F of Spinward Marches, contains 41 stars and 248 identified planets; 11 monostellar systems, 15 binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 10 of the 26 systems (38%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, five Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.
