Calit is a moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in population size.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Vilis Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This is a hot world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- The world is home to a large community of Chirpers.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Calit is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the primary star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Calit is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Calit has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Calit has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- Much of the surface is arid and hostile.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Calit was granted protected status by the Imperium in 470 and granted full membership in 576.
Calit, despite having an independent government of its own, is effectively controlled by interests on Denotam. Denotam's ruling coalition is the only functional collaboration of its multiple criminal "governments" (and "functional," like "government" is a relative term). The Calit Governing Coalition Bureau (CGCB), on the other hand, rules with a light touch, taxes only moderately, and otherwise keeps out of local "home rule" issues.
Denotam became the distant ruler of the world in almost inexplicable circumstances: one of its many factions "declared war". In more accurate terms, it decided to threaten Calit to extort "protection money". It sent a small task force (a mercenary contingent, "enforcers"), and made threats in order to collect a "stipend" to stay away. It was, in short, a "protection" racket.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Calit has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Calit has a population of 500,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
- Slightly less than 5% of the world's population (around 20 million individuals) are Chirpers.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Oynprith, a ceremonial and ritualistic language, apparently universal among Droyne and Chirper communities.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Calit possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Calit is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Law (L)[edit]
Calit has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Calit, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial viscount.
