Description (Specifications)

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Gaussi Subsector:

Astrographic Features

The subsector is a generally unremarkable area lying within the Imperial Core.

  • It is an average stellar density region.
  • The equally brightest stars are the white main sequence primaries of the Ayachuco and Malinu systems.

Stellar Distribution

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Gaussi Subsector.

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Trade Routes

A number of important trade routes lie within the region. High cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels moving along them, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.

The Mains and Clusters that lie within the subsector are referred to as The Network.

Greater Massilia Main

The Epshu Cluster, The Great Loop, the Little Loop, and the Victorian Arm regions of the Greater Massilia Main occupy the majority of the subsector.

  • Worlds on the Main are highlighted in green.

Lode Cluster

A few systems along the coreward edge of the subsector are members of the Lode Cluster. It is named for Lode, an asteroid belt lying at its spinward-coreward end.

  • Worlds within the Cluster are highlighted in tan.

Security & Defense

The worlds of the region are patrolled by the Imperial Navy. It defends Imperial territory and interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures trade and commerce.

World Listing

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds lying within Gaussi Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Subsector Summary

Gaussi, subsector H of Zarushagar, contains 35 worlds with an estimated combined population of 14 billion, a per capita income of Cr3,421, and a total economy of BCr49,643. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr5,923 through 32 starports (7 Class A, 17 Class B, 5 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 956,385 people. Driving this interstellar trade are six Agricultural (Ag) worlds, six Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, seven Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Gaussi maintain five Scout bases and four Naval bases. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 8 and 12). The highest technology level is 15 at Nbheji (Zarushagar 3119).

Gaussi, subsector H of Zarushagar, contains 57 stars and 393 identified planets; 18 monostellar systems, 12 binary systems, five trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 32 of the 35 systems (91%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, eight Poor (Po) worlds, 11 Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Gaussi has an estimated population of 14 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, ten Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 13 Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Lineal (Zarushagar 2611) and Norman (Zarushagar 2517). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.
