History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

  • Prior to the Rebellion, ATL had begun to expand into the field of cargo brokerage and wholesale speculation.
  • Akagi formally ceased to exist in late 1119. Disruption of trade sector wide led to the collapse of the company. Ships from Akagi's fleet have either been sold off or are in the hands of their captains and now operate as free traders.

An interesting footnote in Akagi history involves the story of the Zushi Maru.

  • In 1118, the Common Imperial Transport Zushi Maru was called upon to transport 2000 war refugees from the Wolf subsector to the Oasis subsector. Somewhere along the way, the ship disappeared. A search was made by Akagi but no trace of the ship has ever been found. While it is not uncommon for ships to disappear during wartime, some interesting rumors developed regarding the fate of the Maru. Vengeance Fleet Intelligence believed that the ship was carrying biochemical weapons and was captured by Dulinor's forces. (Many think this rumor was started mainly as a propaganda tool). Loyal Fleet Intelligence is rumored to have thought that the ship carried some advanced naval weapon from Research Station Sigma in Oasis subsector. (This rumor ignores the fact that the Maru was travelling in the wrong direction). Akagi stood firm on its assertion that the Zushi Maru's cargo was refugees.
