Shallows Subsector is important from the point of view of strategic communications, as the most direct link between the Vland Main and the Medurma Main. The Jump-two bridge between Amigu and Unlshplir is of strategic importance to the Third Imperium.

Shallows, subsector E of Dagudashaag, contains 40 worlds with an estimated combined population of 120 billion, a per capita income of Cr14,113, and a total economy of BCr1,693,632. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr7,768 through 38 starports (6 Class A, 10 Class B, 16 Class C, 6 Class D) employing 1,160,420 people. Driving this interstellar trade are six Agricultural (Ag) worlds, seven Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, eight Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and three Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Shallows maintain 15 Scout bases, eight Naval bases, and one Way station. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 7 and 12). The highest technology level is 15 at Upag (Dagudashaag 0111).

Shallows, subsector E of Dagudashaag, contains 58 stars and 441 identified planets; 24 monostellar systems, 14 binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 29 of the 40 systems (72%) have native gas giants.
