Ardchi is a vacuum world, with a complete lack of atmosphere. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world is a satellite of a gas giant or another planet in the system. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Shallows Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ardchi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. 90% of the world's population is the Minor Human Race Ziadd.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Ardchi is a member of the Dagudashaag Main. The naval base hosts elements of the 50th Fleet.

Ardchi is the second satellite of Klathzu, a small gas giant. It is the site of Dlak, a mining base that produces high grade ferrous ores. Most of the population are ethnic Ziadd, although there are small numbers of Imperial humans, a few Lancians, and a small S'mrii phylum engaged in secretive research.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Ardchi is a Small World between 900km and 2,400km in diameter. The world has very low gravity between 0.05G and 0.09G. The horizon will appear about 2km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Ardchi has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Ardchi has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

History and Background[edit]

Ardchi has gained a reputation as a 'vile den of villainy, sin and debauchery'. The entertainment on Ardchi is reputed to be 'the very best within ten parsecs', and just about everything (from quality alcohol, Lancian StimSim, sexual liaisons, guided tours through the mining tunnels, sports facilities, drugs, and even the latest holomovie releases) is available, for a price.

Ardchi recognizes Imperial laws, and a set of 'basic principles concerning personal conduct' have been issued by the government. Other than that there are no laws, and no restrictions of any kind on trade. If a commodity isn't banned by Imperial law, it's probably available. If it is banned, it's probably available anyway, but at an inflated price. Enforcement of Imperial laws is difficult, and in the past security troops from the Naval base have acted as a police force.

During one raid in 1103 a team recovered three ex-Imperial Navy starship nuclear missiles and a large quantity of nerve gas, apparently destined for the rebels on Ziamr.

World Starport[edit]

Ardchi has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Ardchi has a population of 300,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Demographics[edit]

Linguistic Topography[edit]

Urbanization[edit]

Ziadd structures tend to be solid and blocky and are usually heavily decorated. Many fly flags and banners declaring allegiance and status.

The Dlak mining base is the most notable settlement.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Ardchi possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ardchi is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law (L)[edit]

Ardchi has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
