Description (Specifications)[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Salient Subsector:

Astrographic Features[edit]

The subsector is a generally unremarkable region of Balkanized Space on the rimward border of the Solomani Confederation.

  • It is an average stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the red giant primary of the Variable system.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Salient Subsector, right:

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

The worlds of the sector are patrolled by the Solomani Navy. It defends Confederation territory, protects Confederation interests, suppresses piracy, and ensures interstellar trade and commerce.

World Listing[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey data for all worlds that lie within Salient Subsector is available.

  • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
  • Other sources may differ: some elements of the data may be contradictory or incorrect.
  • Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.

AAB library archives contain expanded data about the following systems:

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Aslan are uniformly less likely to be cooperative with Solomani interests, but almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, while others can be manipulated or coerced.

Subsector Summary[edit]

Salient, subsector O of Canopus, contains 30 worlds with an estimated combined population of 12 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,840, and a total economy of BCr58,404. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr73 through 21 starports (3 Class A, 6 Class B, 10 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 10,085 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, two Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Salient maintain ten Naval bases, and six Military bases. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 4 and 11). The highest technology level is 13 at Vitriol (Canopus 2432).

Salient, subsector O of Canopus, contains 43 stars and 343 identified planets; 19 monostellar systems, nine binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 26 of the 30 systems (86%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, three Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, five Poor (Po) worlds, seven Vacuum (Va) worlds, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Salient has an estimated population of 12 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, ten Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 11 Low population (Lo) worlds, and two Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Salient (Canopus 2332). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

The Solomani Confederation has jurisdiction over 17 worlds in the subsector with an estimated combined population of 11 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,835, and a total economy of BCr53,240. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr54 through 11 starports (2 Class A, 4 Class B, 4 Class C, 1 Class D) employing 7,610 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in the Solomani Confederation maintain three Naval bases and three Military bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 4 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at Vitriol (Canopus 2432).

The Solomani Confederation has an estimated population of 11 billion within the subsector, distributed across one High population (Hi) world, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, five Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, six Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population world is Salient (Canopus 2332). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.
