Ao Guang is a low-population water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water and a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Salient Subsector of Canopus Sector.
- It orbits the system's orange secondary star.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This world has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
- This world has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces.
- It is part of the Fugit Arm region of the Heart of Canopus.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Ao Guang is a trinary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent red giant named Yiuxing.
- The secondary is an orange main sequence.
- The tertiary is a red main sequence.
Ao Guang has three stars in the star system. Yiuxing

Notes[edit]
Xiuying ("Beautiful Flower"), the red giant primary star, does not retain a planetary system.
- The secondary-tertiary binary stars have an orbital period around it of more than 63,000 standard years.
The secondary and tertiary stars are a binary pair that have an average separation of 25 AU from one another.
- They have an orbital period around one another of 141 standard years.
- All of the secondary worlds in the system orbit the secondary-tertiary binary pair.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the orange secondary star.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 orbit the orange secondary star.
- x4 orbit the red tertiary star.
- x1 gas giant, with a 130 AU circumbinary orbit around the secondary and tertiary stars.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Ao Guang orbits towards the inner edge of the secondary star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ao Guang is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ao Guang has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences relatively high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ao Guang has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ao Guang is a member of the Fugit Arm region of the Heart of Canopus, a large cluster and major trade route lying within the central-rimward part of Canopus Sector.
Xiuying, the system's huge but distant primary star, causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
Although it is not a member of the Solomani Confederation, Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ao Guang has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- This world is host to a Naval Base.
- This world is host to a major Military Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ao Guang has a population of 5,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
- The population almost entirely consists of humans of Solomani descent.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Chinese, the collective name for a family of Terran languages that are widely spoken across the region.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ao Guang possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Ao Guang is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ao Guang has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
