Aguila is a poor, nonindustrial hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is a member of the Grand United States of Quesada, which is a member state of the Solomani Confederation, in the Quesada Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- A Prison World, exile camp, or prison camp for criminals or other exiles is located upon this world in addition to other points of interest.
- It is a member of the Quesada Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Aguila is a binary star system.
- The primary is a white main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Aguila orbits within the prime region of its star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Aguila is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Aguila has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences relatively high temperatures.
- The atmosphere is tainted by airborne sulfur compounds.
- Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere push up the world's surface temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Aguila has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
Most of the water on the world, covering around a fifth of the surface, lies in the northern polar sea, the southern polar sea, and a long strip joining the two known as The Valley. The Valley region, with a surface area in excess of 50 million square kilometers, is fringed by two long mountain ranges containing extremely high peaks. Rivers form on the slopes of the mountains and flow down into vast lakelands and ultimately the sea. Much of the rest of the world's surface is an arid, unforgiving desert.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Aguila is a member of the Quesada Cluster, a small cluster and important trade route lying within the coreward-trailing quadrant of Canopus Sector.
The Quesadan Inquisition is known to be active on the world. It is a religiously sponsored investigative agency that is charged with rooting out heretical thinking. It has the authority to detain and question individuals.
It is a prison world, holding atheists, agnostics, and violent radicals from non-Church religions who have been rounded up by the Quesadan Inquisition and put to work in the world's sulfur mines. They all agree on one thing: Aguila stinks like Hell.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Aguila has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Aguila has a population of 80,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans. Nearly all are prisoners or detainees.
Urbanization[edit]
Twelve widely separated camps have been built on the fringes of The Valley. Each is located near a significant mineral reserve and the prisoners are put to work mining. The facilities are controlled by the Quesadan Inquisition.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Latin, an ancient Terran language used by the Church of Quesada.
- Quesadan Spanish, an Iberian Dialect of the Spanish subfamily of languages of Terran origin spoken principally in the Grand United States of Quesada.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
- It is a second language within the Grand United States.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Aguila possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Aguila is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions within the government. These positions are inherited by members of the group or by their relatives. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Law (L)[edit]
Aguila has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

The economy revolves around mineral extraction, principally sulfur mining.
- Resources: 3 (very scarce)
