Nuzuu Subsector is Subsector D of Verge Sector.

Description (Specifications)

The subsector is a bastion of largely Vilani values and traditions. It remains somewhat undeveloped relative to other regions of the Imperium.

  • It is considered to be an Imperial heartland.
  • It has been settled for millennia.

Astrographic Features

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this subsector:

Stellar Distribution

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Nuzuu Subsector.

  • It is a standard stellar density region.
  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Trade Routes

Mains are chains of star systems, each lying 1 parsec from its neighbour. They are trade routes, with high cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels moving along them, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.

The Nuzuu Main

The Nuzuu Main dominates (and is named for) the subsector. It has 66 member worlds and runs between Verge and Ilelish Sectors.

  • Worlds lying on the Main are highlighted in green.
  • Tripolis, the capital of Verge Sector, is marked in red.

The Sirim Loop

The Sirim Loop has its trailing terminus within the subsector. It has 38 member worlds and runs along the edge of the Great Rift.

  • Sirim, the namesake of the Main, is marked in red.

Nuzuu Jump Bridge[1]

There is rumored to be a deep space fuel cache located within empty hex 2607 of the subsector, allowing jump-1 vessels to cross between the Nuzuu Main and the Sirim Loop. Many believe this to be a myth, an Old Spacer's Tale.

The stories insist that it consists of a central array of vast storage tanks, intertwined with ancillary refineries, pumping gear, docking facilities, control areas, and accommodations. It is refilled by tanker vessels that loop between the outer gas giants of the Aagun and Kurilla systems. The Jump Bridge supposedly has reaction drive tugs to move visiting vessels to fuelling points and is surrounded by a sphere of sensor and navigation buoys out to approximately 50 AU.

It is most commonly believed to be a facility operated by one or more corporations and kept secret to give them an immense advantage over their commercial rivals.

If it does exist, the chances of a vessel blindly jumping into hex 2607 and stumbling across it are miniscule. A hex is vast, many light years across, and any signals or emissions produced by the facility would be indistinguishable from background noise beyond a few hundred AU. Any vessel accessing the Jump Bridge would need exact jump coordinates.

Subsector Summary

Nuzuu, subsector D of Verge, contains 43 worlds with an estimated combined population of 35 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,301, and a total economy of BCr226,229. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr2,268 through 36 starports (9 Class A, 10 Class B, 14 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 389,095 people. Driving this interstellar trade are six Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, five Rich (Ri) worlds, and three Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Nuzuu maintain one Naval base and one Scout base. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 6 and 12). The highest technology level is 15 at Gronasse (Verge 2708) and Dirakhasu (Verge 3008).

Nuzuu, subsector D of Verge, contains 62 stars and 456 identified planets; 25 monostellar systems, 17 binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 38 of the 43 systems (88%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, six Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, six Poor (Po) worlds, four Vacuum (Va) worlds, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Nuzuu has an estimated population of 35 billion distributed across five High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 16 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 11 Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Lagi (Verge 2805), Tlaq (Verge 2908), Tier (Verge 3007), Amdarush (Verge 2905), and Inkha (Verge 3210). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Third Imperium, Domain of Ilelish

The Third Imperium, Domain of Ilelish has jurisdiction over all of the worlds with an estimated combined population of 35 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,301, and a total economy of BCr226,229. The governments in the Third Imperium, Domain of Ilelish maintain one Naval base and one Scout base within the subsector. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 6 and 12). The highest technology level is 15 at Gronasse (Verge 2708) and Dirakhasu (Verge 3008).

History & Background (Dossier)

The Old Verge Combine, a polity founded during the Long Night and centered on Tripolis in Miruu Subsector, claimed a number of worlds within the rimward part of the subsector before being absorbed by the expanding Third Imperium.[2] Its culture and history continues to be a regional point of pride.

The following polities can be found within this subsector:

Native Sophonts

No Sophont species are believed to have originated in this area.

Demographics

Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:

Suerrat Enclave[3]

A significant number of Suerrat inhabit a group of worlds lying in the center of the subsector:

There are estimated to be in excess of 700 million Suerrat inhabiting the worlds of the Enclave.

Politics & Diplomacy

Subsector Duchess Madalette Iimiishzam of Khiniel is a calm and competent leader, though still capable of youthful exuberance. In her younger days while still in training to inherit her position, her personal stables were home to a staggering variety of animals trained to the saddle.

Duke Tasike Siihuli of Tlaq is the lone Suerrat among the higher ranks in Nuzuu, and lets no one forget it.

Among the bumper crop of Counts and Viscounts here, Countess Lillandr "Lily" Agama of Tier stands out. She is one of the few who can regularly crack Duchess Madalette's calm, due to their lifelong friendship. Much like the Duchess, she is an accomplished equestrian.
