Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Old Verge Combine was an economic co-prosperity sphere located in Nuzuu, Bikaa, and Miruu Subsectors, in the coreward-trailing part of Verge Sector. At its height it had 14 member systems.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Old Verge Combine formed during the Long Night and at its height it covered parts of three subsectors. It was centered on Tripolis, a pleasant and resource-rich garden world, and acted to maintain a self-sufficient bloc of systems, improving the infrastructure of the region and ensuring that each member world received vital resources, generally in return for bulk raw materials and commodities. It produced its own starships, though they were few in number and were only capable of Jump-1. It became more insular as it matured and ended prior to the year 100, as the young Imperium expanded into the region. Its member worlds were absorbed into the Third Imperium.
During its roughly 300-year existence it was called the Old Verge Combine, the name harkening back to a nostalgic and romanticized view of Old Verge, to the bucolic days of the Pax Vilanica and the perceived strength and security of the Rule of Man.
Three of its member worlds -- Noargan, Khiniel, and Tripolis -- prospered under the Combine and have gone on to become the capitals of their respective subsectors. Tripolis also serves as the Sector Capital of Verge Sector.
The culture and traditions of the Combine form an important part of the heritage of the region.
