Elysee is an industrial, high-population hellworld with a billion or more sophonts, who struggle in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- It is a part of the Third Reformed French Confederate Republic, a member state of the Solomani Confederation, located in the Star Bridge Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld. It orbits within the primary star's habitable zone.
- x10 secondary rocky worlds. Six orbit the primary star, four orbit the secondary star.
- x3 planetoid belts. One orbits the primary star, two orbit the secondary star.
- x1 large gas giant. It orbits within the primary star's far outer system.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Elysee orbits within the central part of the yellow primary star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Elysee is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Elysee has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The atmosphere consists of 81% nitrogen, 11% oxygen, and around 8% carbon dioxide, giving it both low oxygen and high CO2 atmospheric taints.
- Equatorial temperatures average 60°C, and polar temperatures average 15°C. The averages are climbing.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Elysee has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Satellites[edit]
Elysee retains a tiny planetoid moon named Roche and a larger temperate moon named Lune.
- They orbit once every few weeks.
- Roche is rarely visible in the sky
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
Elysee has a mid-sized northern polar ocean. It gives way to scattered lakes and then arid lands to the south. The increasing level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere mix has led to a gradual but continuous planetary warming, which to date has overridden all natural buffers.
With increasing temperatures the polar ocean is becoming more acidic with disastrous effects on the aquaculture industry. Many subequatorial regions that hold mineral resources or were previously viable farmland now experience temperatures that can prove lethal.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Elysee has a plethora of resources, manufactories, farmlands, aquaculture bases, and the many elements of a mature service economy. It is also leveraging its huge population by investing in new education programs to retrain entire segments of society to become effective teachers, technicians, engineers, and scientists. Robotics and Artificial Intelligence are much lauded, despite the fears expressed by older generations. Robotics specialists are needed as some particularly rich resources are found in areas that present significant dangers to sophonts.
When the world was first settled during the later Rule of Man period the climate was warm and arid but it was considered manageable. Despite the marginal conditions the population increased during the Long Night, putting considerable pressure on local resources: when the world was recontacted during the early Imperial period the explorers found conditions of absolute squalor and poverty. The rapid implementation of advanced technologies and the construction of vast chained arcologies immeasurably improved the lives of the inhabitants, but the population continued to grow faster than it previously had. As industry expanded so did pollution and as a consequence serious environmental problems.
Dangerous criminals from the world are sent to the prison outpost on Redi, in Canopus Sector.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Elysee has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
The main Elysee Downport is at the 75° latitude and is a fascinating example of architectural design, automation, and efficiency. A counter-example is the now abandoned open-air downport that was originally situated at the equator, with its once-famed heavy-launch facilities. The twenty world-cities (each with populations in excess of 800 million sophonts) each have a dedicated Downport / Gravport to facilitate travel, with the remaining large cities having high-capacity industrial and light gravtrain systems to the nearest downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Elysee has a population of 30,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Urbanization[edit]
Newer cities, constructed of hyper-advanced, connected arcologies are located on the retreating shores of the polar ocean. The older cities are located along the dried lakes and riverbeds that are now used as grav routes, and typically have a ring of outer arcologies around a dead core of older, uninhabitable buildings.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Euxene French, a Terran language principally spoken in the Euxene Cluster.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Elysee possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-5.
The regulation of "dirty" industries and the use of advanced fusion plants, which provide the society with abundant energy and power equipment dedicated to carbon capture, are starting to slow the temperature rise.
World Government (G)[edit]
Elysee is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
The ruler of the world is The World President For Life, Adam Martinette. Among other expansive policy statements he has declared a new War on Space: he is encouraging industries that will allow additional expansion into orbital habitats and improve conditions on the many secondary world and their moons within the Elysee Prime system. He has expansively targeted the presently uninhabited Worlds of Deuxième, the secondary star, for rapid colonization.
World Military[edit]
Elysee maintains a handful of advanced System Defense Boats (SDBs) that are jump capable. The President has expansively boasted that he will "lay the keel" of the first Elyseen destroyer "soon".
In the meantime, Elysee depends on the frequent port-calls of Republic capital ships to reassure the population and unsettle potential pirates.
World Law (L)[edit]
Elysee has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
