Yumuri is a high-population garden world with a billion or more sophonts in population size and a near-ideal utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Grand United States of Quesada, which is a member state of the Solomani Confederation, in the Quesada Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This world has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
- This world has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stellar Data
Yumuri has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x9 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data
Yumuri orbits within the prime region of its star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)
Yumuri is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Yumuri has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
The atmosphere of Yumuri is a standard nitrogen-oxygen mix, but is extremely deep. Sea-level pressures exceed 3 Atm of pressure and are dangerous to most sophonts without breathing assistance.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Yumuri has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
Yumuri is a young world with several very high mountain ranges running across three major continents. A number of subcontinental landmasses and numerous archipelagoes and islands are present.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Mainworld Data
Yumuri is a standard-sized garden world with a dense atmosphere.
Native Lifeforms
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Many different forms of flowering flora have developed on the world. The Yumuri Megarose has stems over 2 cm in width, with a flower over 50 cm in diameter. Colors are typically deep red, purple, and black, though a legendary blue bloom is said to exist in high pressure coastal environments. Collectors are offering fortunes for a living example.
History & Background (Dossier)
Each of the four major nations on Yumuri traces its origins back to the Terran historical nation of Cuba, a large island lying in the Gulf of Mexico. Despite their common heritage each nation-state has its own form of government and priorities and they often find themselves in opposition to one another. Yumuri is in turn culturally distinct from more mainstream Quesadan society.
The Yumuri nations have imported and adopted the Huecar penchant for "food combat". Every 2 years, a large food-oriented Olympica is held between culinary teams from each nation, under Church food purity laws and oversight. Most towns and cities hold corresponding festivities before and during the Olympica. The food is truly epic, and there is talk of inviting a delegation from Huecar.
The Church is certainly present on Yumuri, but it does not have the force of law that it does on other worlds. Despite this, the Quesadan Inquisition is known to be active on the world. It is a religiously sponsored investigative agency with powers of detainment that is charged with rooting out heretical thinking.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)
Yumuri has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world is host to a Confederation Naval Base.
- This world is host to a major Military Base.
Yumuri Alta is an excellent quality highport, maintained and staffed by each of Yumuri's nations.
- All traffic is required to dock at Yumuri Alta upon entering the system for customs inspections.
World Population (P)
Yumuri has a population of 10,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Urbanization
Major cities are built using technologies and designs ranging between TL–12 and TL–14, according to wealth.
Linguistic Topography
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Quesadan Spanish, an Iberian Dialect of the Spanish subfamily of languages of Terran origin spoken principally in the Grand United States of Quesada.
- Each nation on the world has developed its own dialect of the Spanish language, each of which is distinct from the standardized Quesadan Spanish.
- Quesadan Spanish is still taught in Yumurian schools and used in business contexts.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
- It is a second language within the Grand United States.
World Technology Level (T)
Yumuri possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)
Yumuri has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
It is home to four distinct nations:
- Yusa – occupying the colder northern continent, the worlds largest landmass.
- Muria – occupying the eastern parts of the equatorial continent. Unsettled hinterlands lie between it and the nation of Cuba.
- Cuba – occupying the western and southern parts of the equatorial continent. Unsettled hinterlands lie between it and the nation of Muria.
- Havan – occupying the southern continent. At its closest, it is just 100 km from the nation of Cuba.
World Military
Each nation maintains its own wet navy and ground forces. In addition, each nation also contributes money and materiel to support the planetary defense forces.
World Law (L)
Yumuri has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data
- Importance: 4 (important)
World Economy
Yumuri has a fully-developed world economy. Each nation conducts it own trade policy and maintains its own downport(s).
It is particularly known for sophisticated electronics, specialty chemicals, and advanced materials. Imports tend to be raw materials from the mining colonies, exotic materials, and crops not grown on world.
