Description (Astrography & Planetology)[2][edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Acton has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence named Endinho.
- The star and its system are c.8.5Gyr in age.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- Dan, an inferno world orbiting in the habitable zone.
- Piojun, an ice world orbiting in the outer system.
- Natregun, a radworld orbiting in the outer system.
- Lotu, an ice world orbiting in the outer system.
- Rojunyen, an ice world orbiting in the outer system.
- Stasiki, a radworld orbiting in the outer system.
- Zan, an ice world orbiting in the outer system.
- Emma, a worldlet orbiting in the outer system.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- The Irke Belt is a broad planetoid belt lying in the outer system. It contains 5% metallic, 65% rocky/stony and 15% carbonaceous planetoids. In addition the remaining 15% of the planetoids are comprised of other poor mineral bodies.
- The Elye Belt is a broad planetoid belt lying in the outer system. It contains 0% metallic, 1% rocky/stony and 85% carbonaceous planetoids. In addition the remaining 14% of the planetoids are comprised of other poor mineral bodies.
- x3 gas giants.
- Trepen, is a large gas giant orbiting in the outer system.
- Nurtec, is a large gas giant orbiting in the outer system.
- Fillon, is a large gas giant orbiting in the outer system.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Acton is tidally locked to its primary star.
- The star is always high in the sky on the bright face, it hangs on horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
- The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.
- The planet has a barely discernible axial tilt of 0.84 degrees
- Acton has a sidereal day of 333.7 years
- There are 4 tectonic plates on Acton.
- There has been no recorded life so far identified on Acton.
- The world is barely habitable and requires appropriate equipment to survive on the surface outside of any airlocked facilities.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Acton is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
- The planetary surface has been surveyed and has an established diameter of 9624 km.
- The survey carried out has confirmed the planetary core is mostly exotic ice with a density of 0.12 of standard
- The surface gravity of the world has been confirmed as 0.091 standard and is defined as low gravity.
- The mass of Acton is 0.0517 of standard.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Acton has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- Atmospheric pressure measured in bar is 0.34
- The mean surface temperature on Acton is -189c.
- The atmosphere on Acton is very thin and is only breathable with respirator gear.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Acton has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
- Hydrosphere of the planet has been surveyed and calculated as being 9%.
- The water is located as permanent ice on the dark side of the planet in deep ravines that are left from an earlier period in the planets history.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[3][edit]
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while many see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Acton has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world is host to a Confederation Naval Base.
- This world is host to a major Military Base.
- The military base is controlled by the Solomani Home Guard.
- The starport is entirely located in an orbital facility. The majority of the workforce located in the facility are robotic in nature with cargo handling, services and general day to day workloads carried out by robots.
- The Acton system is used as a "mothballing" and training centre for the Solomani military. The planetary surface and other locations across the system are used for the storage and mothballing of Solomani military starships.
- The starport is maintained as a Type A standard and many vessels do pass through the facility on a regular basis. The vast majority of these are military although freighters do occasionally stop here to refuel.
World Population (P)[edit]
Acton has population of 100 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
- The population are all military personnel and actually do not live planetside. The population all live at the orbital starport facility.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Acton possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Acton is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Law (L)[edit]
Acton has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 2 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Acton does have abundant resources, however to date these have not yet been exploited.
- Labor: 1 (tens)
- The labour located at Acton is entirely dedicated to the military logistics activities that are carried out in the system.
- Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
- There is minimal infrastructure with very little beyond the starport and storage facilities located in system.
- Efficiency: -4 (very poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 2 (typical)
- Symbols: C (very abstract)
