Afawahisa Sector is located in the Aslan Hierate in spinward space.
- The Great Rift borders it, creating a strategic barrier.
Description (Specifications)
Afawahisa contains four subsectors of high stellar density, which are wholly within Hierate space. Five other subsectors contain a narrow strip of Aslan worlds along the trailing and rimward edges of the sector, with the remaining subsectors lying wholly within the Great Rift.
Aslan explorers pushed into the Great Rift in search of a way across, and once they found a suitable route, interest waned. Expeditions into coreward Afawahisa from the Hierate are therefore rare. As with Touchstone Sector, Human names for many subsectors are in common use outside the Hierate.

Historical Eras
General Overview
This sector is poorly surveyed outside of the Clan settlement patterns of the Aslan. Prior to the arrival of the Aslan, very little is known of the history here.
Pre-History
Involvement of the Ancients has not been reported in this sector. That does not mean that they did not travel through or stop in this region, however. It is possible that the Human inhabitants of Kifnell were placed there by the Ancients.
Space-faring races were apparently active here in the time between the Ancients and the rise of the Vilani, though as ever this is controversial. This might represent Kursae activity. Evidence includes the following:
- Ruins dating back perhaps 200,000 years on Ahyulafa, belonging to what was clearly a technological society and arranged in a manner that suggests colonisation. It is also claimed that a derelict colony ship, formed from a hollowed-out asteroid, was found drifting in the outsystem.
- Ruins dating back 100,000 years or more are found at Herebedragons, deep in the Great Rift within Hkyewaol Subsector. The vacuum environment has preserved the remains well; the settlement appears to have been created by a species roughly about the size of a Human or Aslan, using materials consistent with a TL-12 to TL-14 civilisation.
- Wreckage found in a shallow sea on Khtekhheaw (Ahesailiyhah Subsector) appears to be a large starship of unknown origin and great age.
- Yalroeroh is a world that has apparently been terraformed. This hypothesis is supported by the existence of the Yalroeroh Spires, tall pillars which could not have formed by any known natural process.
Spread of the Ascondi
While the agency of their spread has not been identified, the Ascondi have apparently been present in the sector for longer than they know or care to share.
Arrival of the Clans
The Aslan do not keep extensive public records, but are estimated to have first entered Afawahisa Sector in the later centuries of the Long Night, at the peak of their expansion push to Spinward. Some Clans would stop here and stake claims, while others would push on. By the time the Aslan Hierate stabilized, Afawahisa was old and well settled territory.

Sector Summary: 1105
The Afawahisa sector has 168 worlds with an estimated combined population of 220 billion, a per capita income of Cr15,585, and a total economy of BCr3,428,851. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr6,071 through 125 starports (5 Class A, 35 Class B, 59 Class C, 26 Class D) employing 634,640 people. Driving this interstellar trade are 17 Agricultural (Ag) worlds, 17 Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, 12 Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, 15 Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, eight Rich (Ri) worlds, and 13 Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Afawahisa maintain 28 Tlaukhu bases and 26 Clan bases. The average technology level is 6 (with most between 3 and 10). The highest technology level is 16 at Teahehwaih (Afawahisa 1538).
The Afawahisa sector contains 235 stars and 1,896 identified planets; 107 monostellar systems, fifty-eight binary systems, four trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 141 of the 168 systems (83%) have native gas giants. There are six Asteroid (As) belts, 11 Desert (De) worlds, nine Garden (Ga) worlds, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, 24 Poor (Po) worlds, 20 Vacuum (Va) worlds, and 12 Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Afawahisa has an estimated population of 220 billion distributed across 17 High population (Hi) worlds, 13 Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 65 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 45 Low population (Lo) worlds, and eight Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Teahehwaih (Afawahisa 1538) and Hawyuiwyalr (Afawahisa 1432). The population consists primarily of 5 sophont groups, including two native sophonts.

The Aslan Hierate has an estimated population of 220 billion within the sector, distributed across 17 High population (Hi) worlds, 12 Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 64 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 45 Low population (Lo) worlds, and three Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Teahehwaih (Afawahisa 1538) and Hawyuiwyalr (Afawahisa 1432). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups.
Non-Aligned, unclaimed
There are eight Non-Aligned unclaimed worlds in Afawahisa with an estimated combined population of 543 million.
