Pretoria, subsector A of Deneb Sector, is a vigorous, growing subsector near the Spinward fringe of the Imperium. The subsector's major Xboat route connects the Coreward subsectors of the Spinward Marches with the heart of the Deneb Sector.
Description[edit]
Pretoria, subsector A of Deneb has 31 worlds, of which 25 have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, four Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, six Poor (Po) worlds, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds. In Pretoria there are two race homeworlds.
The subsector capital is at Pretoria, which is currently under Imperial Naval rule as a result of the Rachelean Revolts. Pretoria operates two jump bridges that connect the subsector capital with two jump-1 mains: one in hex 0405 and one in hex 0407. The facilities are also used by the Pretoria navy and occasionally by the Imperial navy.
The Pretoria Subsector is defended by 194th Fleet.
Native Sophonts[edit]
The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated in this area:

The Human interface line, Niwil Taroja, operates between Pretoria and coreward worlds in Tuglikki Sector.
History & Background[edit]
The Legend of Sachoppek states that a wealthy Vilani nobleman of the Ziru Sirka found riches beyond belief in the Pretoria Subsector[1]. The location of this mine remains unknown and the legend draws wildcatters, treasure seekers, fringe archaeologists and religious cultists to the subsector's backwaters.
Originally designated as District 217, Pretoria saw a rush of MegaCorporation investment in the 300s.
In 457 Pretoria subsector was admitted into the Imperium.
Major Historical Events Timeline: 1116[edit]
These are some of the more important historical events that have affected this subsector:

- 75: Regina Subsector in the Spinward Marches is settled, shifting the centre of trade from Deneb to Mora.
- 220: Vargr Campaigns begin.
- 300 to 420: The Imperial First Survey.

History: New Era[edit]
Pretoria's frontier is a part of two quarantine districts. Regency Quarantine District 2 which enters Pretoria from spinward and extends to Enaaka (Deneb 0203). This represents the trailing terminus of the Vargr interface that runs along the corward edge of the Spinward Marches Sector. Regency Quarantine District 3 begins immediately trailing of Enaaka. [2]
Politics and Diplomacy : Milieu 1116[edit]
Pretoria, subsector A of Deneb contains 31 worlds with an estimated population of 11 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,855, and a total economy is BCr55,425. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr1,251 through 29 starports (6 Class A, 9 Class B, 7 Class C, 7 Class D) employing 239,145 people. Driving this interstellar trade are five Agricultural (Ag) worlds, five Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, five Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, five Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Pretoria maintain ten Scout bases, and five Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 12 at Carthage (Deneb 0202), Kretikaa (Deneb 0209), and Pretoria (Deneb 0406).
Pretoria, subsector A of Deneb contains 44 stars and 322 identified planets; 19 monostellar systems, 11 binary systems, one trinary system, and no systems with four or more stars. 25 of the 31 systems (80%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, four Desert (De) worlds, two Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, six Poor (Po) worlds, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Pretoria has an estimated population of 11 billion distributed across three High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 17 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, five Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Pretoria (Deneb 0406), Urnas (Deneb 0609), and Marz (Deneb 0201). The population consists of 6 sophont groups including two native sophonts.
