Jode is a fluid world with an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Pretoria Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Jode, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This is the homeworld of the Serpent, an extinct Minor Race.  10% of the world's population is the Major Race Vargr.

Era: New Era

Jode is a fluid world with an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world was once settled and developed, but the inhabitants have either died off or left leaving behind the remnants of their civilization. It is a member of Regency of Deneb in the Pretoria Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Regency Frontier. This is the homeworld of the Serpent, an extinct Minor Race. 20% of the world's population is the Major Race Vargr.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

Most of the current population of four million live in the orbital complex or in sealed surface environments.

World Data[edit]

Jode has a year of 630 standard days; its actual day length is in fact 24 hours. There are four moons. The planet's surface gravity is 1.3 G. Its atmosphere has a high enough concentration of chlorine that even short exposures without a mask will cause extreme irritation and permanent lung damage.

World Atmosphere[edit]

Jode's atmosphere is an un-breathable soup of carbon dioxide, methane and water vapor with a chlorine taint. The mixture is kept fluid by friction generated by the world's rotation, and high winds caused by thermal variances in the upper levels. In the lower valleys and canyons of the few islands, the atmosphere often condenses into a chemical slush that covers the ground in a manner reminiscent of thick snow. [2]

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

The only major island group is the Festral Archipelago, all that remains of a sunken continent.

Point of Interest: Orbital Habitats[edit]

The entire population lives in a quartet of orbital habitats located in low orbit. Crews are shuttled down to work four day shifts at the various plants scattered around the surface. The local tech level is too low to maintain the orbital stations, and the local government has consolidated into a bureaucracy to better pool resources.

History and background[edit]

There are numerous xeno-archeological sites located on the surface (and under the sea on the sunken continent); remnants of the Serpents.

Economy[edit]

Major export items include pharmaceuticals refined from sea creatures and minerals mined in the island archipelagos. Tukera Lines operates on-world offices and maintenance facilities. [2]

Because of the ready availability of raw materials, SuSAG constructed several extraction plants here in the 980s for a variety of chemical and medicinal purposes. [2]

In 1071 Leavitt Labs developed a new combat drug derived from the Jodian Salalor, and this discovery has created a booming economy for the world.

New Era[edit]

Raided by Vargr Corsairs from 1119 by the Assemblage of 1116 the system defensively operated a very active SDB flotilla[3]. There were 10 attacks in the year to 98-1121 leading to 6 losses[3]. The most famous loss was the liner Artina Maez destroyed on 321-1119 during which several noble TAS members lost their lives[3].

Concerns over the vulnerability of this world to Viral infection led to a partial evacuation during the 1130s, but the remaining population has steadfastly refused to relocate. SuSAG has pulled out most of its people, but continues to subcontract its facilities to local companies.[2]
