Jonkeer has a tainted atmosphere and a complete lack of surface water, making it poorly suited to sophont habitation. The system has a population of hundreds of millions of sophonts. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Vincennes Subsector of Deneb Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Jonkeer, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdoms of a marquis and a viscount. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. This is the homeworld of the Jonkeereen, a Variant Human Race.

Era: New Era
Jonkeer has a tainted atmosphere and a complete lack of surface water, making it poorly suited to sophont habitation. The system has a population of hundreds of millions of sophonts. It is a member of Regency of Deneb in the Vincennes Subsector of Deneb Sector. This world contains a Regency Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. This is the homeworld of the Jonkeereen, a Variant Human Race.
Basic Summary[edit]
Jonkeer is a preindustrial, moderate population desert hellworld with a population of over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts.
- The inhabitants of this world struggle to survive in the life-threatening environment of a desert hellworld.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- The world is a preindustrial one, which cannot produce adequate materials to maintain a modern, star-faring society. These items must be imported at considerable cost.
- This world has few prospects for significant economic development.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Vincennes Subsector of Deneb Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- It is the homeworld of the Jonkereen.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This world is part of the Vincennes Cluster.
Stellar Data[edit]
Jonkeer is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x12 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Jonkeer is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Jonkeer has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Jonkeer has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
The world has native life occupying every available ecological niche.
- Most native flora draws its moisture from the world's atmosphere.
- The Zaerkee is a staple of the Jonkeereen diet.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Jonkeer is notable as the homeworld of the xenophobic Jonkeereen, a Variant Human Race specifically geneered by the Imperial Ministry of Colonization for adaption to a hostile desert environment.
The Jonkeereen project began in 528, and in 600 the first three generations of Jonkeereen arrived on Jonkeer, requiring little support. In 700 the Ministry began transplanting Jonkeereen to desert worlds throughout the Domain of Deneb and beyond.
In 1083 Jonkeer had its first uprising over forced transplanting, with many tribes united under a Chief Tabali. In 1101 Jonkeer saw its second uprising, this time over a possible retrovirus. Imperial Marines killed Tabali and eventually the megacorporation SuSAG negotiated an end to the uprising.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility (N)[edit]
Jonkeer, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial marquis.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial viscount.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Jonkeer has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The world is host to a Scout Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Jonkeer has a population of 400,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
- The majority of the population are native Jonkereen.
World Languages[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
Urbanization[edit]
In Jonkeer's one major permanent settlement, the architecture illustrates the Jonkeereen need for space. Buildings are built outwards rather than upwards, and feature many large windows. Most buildings have only one floor, so no-one is denied the open sky. Those with multiple levels have tall ceilings and as much of the outer wall as possible is windowed.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Jonkeer possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Jonkeer is governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy, like a charismatic dictatorship in that a larger group has asserted their right to rule. The group will likely have better rules of succession than a single dictator and may last longer, or may transition to a non-charismatic dictatorship.
- The basic Jonkeereen governmental unit is best described as a tribe. It is an extended family group headed by a tajj (dominant elder) or council of tajjin. The tajj may be either male or female.
World Law (L)[edit]
Jonkeer has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
- Infrastructure: 7 (generally available)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
