Quatuor is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Quatuor Subsector of Neworld Sector.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
- The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This world has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
- This world has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Quatuor is a quaternary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a yellow main sequence.
- The tertiary is an orange main sequence.
- The quaternary is a red main sequence.
Quatuor has four stars in the star system. Primary

Notes[edit]
The primary and secondary stars are a binary pair that have an average separation of 35 AU from one another.
- They have an orbital period around one another of 145 standard years.
The tertiary and quaternary stars are a binary pair that have an average separation of 12 AU from one another.
- They have an orbital period around one another of 49 standard years.
The two binary pairs orbit a barycenter – their mutual center of mass – at an average separation of 225 AU.
- The two binary pairs have an orbital period around one another of approximately 2,000 standard years.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld. It is a major moon of a gas giant orbiting the system's secondary star.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds. Three orbit the secondary star, two orbit the tertiary star.
- x2 planetoid belts. One orbits the primary star, one orbits the quaternary star.
- x3 gas giants. Two orbit the secondary star, one orbits the tertiary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Quatuor is a major moon of a large gas giant.
The mainworld and its gas giant primary world orbit towards the outer edge of the secondary star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Quatuor is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Quatuor has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences relatively low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Quatuor has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native lifeforms are cryophilic - they thrive in lower temperatures.
A wide range of introduced species thrive on the world.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Quatuor is the de facto capital of Quatuor Subsector.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while a few see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Quatuor has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world is host to an independent Naval Base.
- This world is host to a major Military Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Quatuor has a population of 1,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population almost entirely consists of humans of Solomani descent.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Quatuor possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Quatuor is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Law (L)[edit]
Quatuor has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
