Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Malaga is a binary star system.
- The primary is a white main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Malaga is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Malaga has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The atmospheric taint consists of airborne radioactive dust.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Malaga has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Malagan culture revolves around manufacturing and business, with a 6-hour working day and a 4 day working week. Wages are high, and people tend to choose jobs they like.
Management skills are highly prized and virtually any supervisory position requires a certified degree in Management. Management programs have a careful psychological screening process which filters out persons not suited to the role. Those progressing receive extensive academic, simulation, and practical training which includes psychology, sociology, industrial engineering, languages/linguistics, and team-building. The full-course to graduation takes 8 standard years. Certified managers have the ability to train supervisors and recommend personnel to Management training. A select few go on to earn doctorate degrees in Management, which is a de facto requirement for upper-level public service positions. It is common for Management programs to require dual-degrees in business and an appropriate science or technology field.
There are rumors that the more exclusive Management schools are working with advanced mental and neurological techniques or even cybernetics.
The Quesadan Inquisition is known to be active on the world. It is a religiously sponsored investigative agency that is charged with rooting out heretical thinking. It has the authority to detain and question individuals.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Malaga has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world is host to a Confederation Naval Base.
- This world is host to a major Military Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Malaga has a population of 6,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Urbanization[edit]
Advanced materials and technologies allow communities to be constructed almost anywhere on Malaga. TL–13–TL–14 cityscapes can be found at the seacoasts, on elevated plateaus, on mountain peaks, and on shallow regions of the seabed.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Latin, an ancient Terran language used by the Church of Quesada.
- Quesadan Spanish, an Iberian Dialect of the Spanish subfamily of languages of Terran origin spoken principally in the Grand United States of Quesada.
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
- It is a second language within the Grand United States.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Malaga possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)[edit]
Malaga is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Military[edit]
Malaga maintains two dedicated wet navies (one operating surface vessels and one operating submersibles), a professional ground army, and a small planetary Navy and Marine force. The Malagan military are on good terms with the Confederation forces in-system, but there is constant informal rivalry.
World Law (L)[edit]
Malaga has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
World Economy[edit]
Malaga has a fully-developed world economy focused on advanced electronics and materials.
- Resources: 9 (moderate)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: C (very extensive)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 5 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: E (extremely xenophilic)
- Strangeness: A (incomprehensible)
- Symbols: C (very abstract)
