Furness is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

• The surface gravity is 0.6 G, which makes it quite comfortable for short stays.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Furness has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Furness has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

There are 4 separate continents on Furness: Artica in the northern polar region, Kalta in the southern polar region, Myrtle straddles the equator, and Pocono lies slightly north of the equator but opposite Myrtle.

• Myrtle is the smallest continent, with a large cluster of large mountains in the central region. The northernmost mountains are actively volcanic, and the picturesque beaches in that region are made of black sands. The highest mountain peaks are over 12,000 m here. The surf is known for extremely large waves.
• Pocono is the largest continent, and differs from Myrtle in that it has 3 separate mountain ranges, with individual river valley systems.
• The polar continents are largely covered by icecaps, but barren, rocky coastal regions extends around the entirety of each continent.

Native Lifeforms

Native sea life has evolved forms of phytoplankton and larger lifeforms that feed upon them. Most smaller sealife tends to exist below the dynamic swells at the surface. There are rumors of air-breathing, whale-sized species, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.

History & Background (Dossier)

Furness is a member of (and the namesake of) the Furness Worlds, a named region of the Seguranca Cluster, a cluster and important trade route lying across the central-spinward part of Neworld Sector.

Furness has a full-fledged world economy operating in a post-scarcity model, an economic environment where most goods and services can be produced in abundance with minimal labor, meeting basic needs with ease. Most people work in the service sectors, research, or are involved in the expanding engineering market. There is a growing local starship-building industry that is encouraging additional scientific research.

Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while many see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.

World Starport (St)

Furness has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Furness Highport is a well-equipped station and customs hub. All travellers are expected to stop here first upon entering the system.

• There are three downports: Myrtleport, Pocoport, and Northport. All are located near a large TL–13 urban center with modern public transport facilities.
