Subsector Summary: 1105[edit]

Tozus Ganok, subsector H of Mendan, contains 34 worlds with an estimated combined population of 63 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,186, and a total economy of BCr327,395. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr1,371 through 32 starports (3 Class A, 8 Class B, 16 Class C, 5 Class D) employing 179,740 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, five Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and three Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Tozus Ganok maintain 14 Military bases, one Naval base, and one Corsair base. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at Giishanu (Mendan 2716) and Raduun (Mendan 3119).

Tozus Ganok, subsector H of Mendan, contains 52 stars and 342 identified planets; 16 monostellar systems, 18 binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 26 of the 34 systems (76%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, one Desert (De) world, two Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, seven Poor (Po) worlds, two Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Tozus Ganok has an estimated population of 63 billion distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 12 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 11 Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Raduun (Mendan 3119) and Loggvog (Mendan 2813). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Julian Protectorate[edit]

The Julian Protectorate has jurisdiction over all of the worlds with an estimated combined population of 63 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,186, and a total economy of BCr327,395. The governments in the Julian Protectorate maintain 14 Military bases, one Naval base, and one Corsair base within the subsector. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 13 at Giishanu (Mendan 2716) and Raduun (Mendan 3119).

The Julian Protectorate has an estimated population of 63 billion within the subsector, distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 12 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 11 Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Raduun (Mendan 3119) and Loggvog (Mendan 2813). The population consists primarily of 2 sophont groups.

Linguistic Topography: 1116[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly encountered in this astrographic region:

  • Anglic: Common to many human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
    • Julian Anglic: The most common variant in the sector, and an official language of the Julian Protectorate.
  • Hhraki: Also known as Hhkarn; the primary language of the Hhkar. Hhkar travel frequently and may be found wandering much of Julian and adjacent space.
  • Irilitok: The language family of the most populous Vargr phenotype and ethnic culture within the Julian Protectorate.
  • Modern Gashikan: Used on worlds that were part of the Second Empire of Gashikan, e.g. those now belonging to the Commonwealth of Mendan.
  • Ovaghoun: The language family of a populous Vargr phenotype and ethnic culture.
  • Vilani: Common to many human worlds. Many human dialects in Mendan have Vilani roots.
  • Wawa-pakekeke-wawa: The common, precise and bureaucratic language of the Bwaps. Spoken on Bwap-dominated planets and by government functionaries on any world lucky enough to retain a dedicated Bwap workforce.

Major Historical Events Timeline: 1116[edit]

These are some of the more important historical events that have affected this subsector:

  • -2235 to -2219: A family of Solomani traders, the Menderes, establish lucrative trade routes along the Mendan Main.
  • -321: Karik Menderes of Menderes Corporation raises all Menderes Vargr to the status of employees.
    • This starts a movement that makes slavery illegal on Asimikigir by -302.
  • -275: Tran Menderes breaks precedent by accepting a Vargr offer to carry Menderes goods off planet. Until now, Kudukara Lines, the principle transport line of the Second Empire of Gashikan, has carried all goods for the region.
  • (175 to 191): Julian War; the region unites to fight off the Third Imperium as it attempts to incorporate Amdukan, Mendan and Meshan sectors by force.
  • Early 600s: After centuries of increasingly common peaceful (if wary) interaction, the Hhkar Sphere joins the Julian Protectorate.
  • 933-936: The defection of the Damlaer Union from the Julian Protectorate to the Hegemony of Lorean leads to the Lorean Strikes. Failed military action leads to a major political crisis within the Protectorate.
  • 940: As part of this political upheaval, the government of the Ikonaz Sphere collapses, replaced by the Rukadukaz Republic.
  • 942: The Protectorate and the Hegemony formally sign the Treaty of Var-Inaka (restricting naval basing) and the Julian Concord, incorporating the Hegemony into the Julian Protectorate.
  • 1070: The Second Empire of Gashikan is shattered by civil war.
