Milo is a low-population garden world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- It is a garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most forms of sophontic life.
- Both the population and economy of this world are expected to grow in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Wovoka Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting the primary star.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds. All orbit the primary star.
- x2 planetoid belts, both orbiting the secondary star.
- x3 gas giants, all orbiting the primary star.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Milo orbits within the prime region of the primary star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Milo is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Milo has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Milo has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
It has significant polar icepacks deep oceans. In some of the great canyons and depressions that dot the surface the atmospheric pressure can approach 1 Atm. most sophonts will require respirators for journeys into upland and mountainous regions.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Milo has considerable plant life at the lower elevations. Most plants have adaptations similar to Terran conifers.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Milo was settled by the Milo family, originally from Europa. Gustav Milo, the eponymous founder of the settlement, was the grandson of Chaim Milo, a multi-billionaire industrialist. The family fell out of favor on Europa after a series of disastrous political terms, and they and their followers emigrated to the then barely surveyed planet. Gustav brought as much materiel and technology as was available for purchase, expending the vast majority of his wealth in this effort. That said, his downport, Gustaville, remains somewhat underwhelming and dated, as his descendants have not made maintenance and upkeep a priority.
The colony started with considerable technological stocks, but over the years most have ceased to function. Nonetheless, two of the world's three fission plants are still online, and seem to be maintained adequately. Other artifacts dating to the time of Gustav Milo seem to be undamaged, merely needing appropriate maintenance or in some cases simple power adapters. The main issue appears the lack of technical education amongst the population; there are schools, but they seem to focus on political theory and certain points of history. Generally the population display a somewhat dated Europan-derived Solomani culture.
Almost all adult males own two or more rifles – seen as a symbol of their masculinity – while women seem to prefer carbines and pistols. Children are trained in the use of firearms at an early age.
The population largely follows the Church of Quesada. The Quesadan Inquisition has no authority on the world.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Solomani State and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, while many see it as an act of duty to help protect the the State and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Milo has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
The downport and its attendant startown are known as Gustaville.
World Population (P)[edit]
Milo has a population of 2,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Urbanization[edit]
Gustaville startown is the second largest settlement, with the largest being Stella, which operates one of the two functional power plants. A third community, Humbert, is marked on charts of the world but has long been abandoned. It is the site of the one defunct power plant.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Confederation.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Milo possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Milo is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.
World Law (L)[edit]
Milo has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
The world has an agricultural economy, with some hunting of imported species.
- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 2 (hundreds)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 5 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
