Euryale is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Suhayl Subsector of Canopus Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation, including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- This is a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
- 100% of the population consists of Uplifted Apes.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Euryale has a solitary primary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x11 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belt.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Euryale orbits towards the inner edge of its star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Euryale is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Euryale has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences relatively high temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Euryale has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Vast forests and jungles, rich with life, clad the land. Very few of the lifeforms native to the world have been studied in any detail.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Euryale is a Forbidden World and is designated as a Red Zone. It presents serious risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors.
- Travel to this world is prohibited.
It is a member of the Ursulan Strand, a small cluster and minor trade route lying within the rimward-trailing quadrant of Canopus Sector.
The world is home to a substantial community of Uplifted Apes, mostly descended from Terran gorillas. The system is patrolled by the Solomani Navy, who ensure the world's isolation. The Apes live peaceful agrarian lives and keep themselves to themselves, only occasionally interacting with the Solomani military who watch over them.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Euryale does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.
World Population (P)[edit]
Euryale has a population of 30,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population entirely consists of Uplifted Apes.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Great Ape Language (GAL), a language containing elements of Anglic spoken within Uplifted Ape communities.
- Each world where it is spoken has its own unique dialect.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Euryale possesses a Technology Level of TL–2.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Runners or beast relay, the printing press, long distance signaling such as the heliograph and semaphore.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Water wheels and wind power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Riding beasts and creature-drawn wheeled vehicles.
- Water: Sailing vessels.
- Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability or ride-able flying beasts available.
World Government (G)[edit]
Euryale has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
The world is directly administered by the Confederation military authorities.
World Law (L)[edit]
Euryale has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
