Aldebaran is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and is also a low-population vacuum environment with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Aldebaran Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Aldebaran is a binary star system.
- The primary is a turbulent orange giant named Aldebaran, or α Tauri A / Alpha Tauri A.
- The secondary is a red main sequence named α Tauri B / Alpha Tauri B.

Notes[edit]
The star α Tauri A has an extreme degree of luminosity. Precautions should be taken to ensure adequate shielding and sufficient optical protection.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld. It has a circumbinary orbit around both stars.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1, designated α Tauri b, is an extremely large Insidious Atmosphere superterran world orbiting the giant primary at approximately 1.5 AU.
- x6 worlds orbit the red secondary star. All are sterile, airless balls of rock.
- x2 planetoid belts, both orbiting close to the the giant primary star.
The red secondary star and the worlds orbiting it happen to lie just within α Tauri A's habitable zone.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Aldebaran is an Asteroid Belt mainworld.
It orbits within the giant primary star's outer system.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Aldebaran is an Asterioid Belt or Planetoid Belt consisting of a few very large objects with diameters of hundreds of kilometers, thousands of bodies of a few kilometers in diameter, and millions of smaller objects. Asteroid Belt is used when the belt is the mainworld of a system. Planetoid Belt refers to any non-mainworld belt within a system.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
None of the bodies within the Aldebaran belt retain an atmosphere.
- The belt is in vacuum conditions, requiring the use of a Vacc Suit.
- TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
The Aldebaran belt contains a few icy bodies. A few belt objects may have frozen volatiles on their surfaces.
- Wilderness refueling is possible within the belt, provided a suitable icy object can be found.
- Water for the inhabitants is generally imported and is extensively recycled.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Placeholder chart, asteroid belt.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World Starport[edit]
Aldebaran has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Technology Level[edit]
Aldebaran possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government[edit]
Aldebaran is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Law Level[edit]
Aldebaran has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Military[edit]
The settlement has an extensive defense grid, with long-range energy weapons and missiles.
Primus has been raided several times by pirates, but survived. They seem to expect trouble, and have seen many different ruses. At this point, these folks do not trust easily.
World Economy[edit]
Asteroid mining for metals and water.
Trade Data[edit]
Metal exports.
World Demographics[edit]
Humaniti 100%
World Culture[edit]
Mixed Solomani. Shell-shocked and very xenophobic.
Urbanization[edit]
Aldebaran Primus is the only current settlement.
Aldebaran Primus is the largest rock, roughly the original size of the Terran asteroid Ceres. The settlement is one contiguous construct, maps are available upon docking. Primus has a considerable water-ice supply, which supports its population.
