Ziarko is an icy, low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Its surface is ice-capped with little or no atmosphere and nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Last Chance Subsector of Magyar Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world has a research station engaged in the scientific pursuit of knowledge.
- This world has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships.
- This world has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces.
- It is a member of the Xianjin-Brimate Cluster.

Ziarko is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Ziarko is tidally locked to the system's primary star.
- The star is always high in the sky on the bright face, it hangs on horizon in the twilight zone, while the cold dark face is in permanent darkness.
- The world experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.
It orbits towards the inner edge of its star's habitable zone.[2]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ziarko is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ziarko has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ziarko has 05-15% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.
- The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
- Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only a small amount of the icy outer shell exposed.
- Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ziarko is a member of the Xianjin-Brimate Cluster, a cluster and important regional trade route lying across parts of Canopus Sector, Dark Nebula Sector, and Magyar Sector. The border between the Solomani Confederation and the Aslan Hierate divides it into distinctive spinward and trailing regions. Large numbers of Humans and Aslan, most typically merchants, traders, or casual visitors such as tourists, can be found on both sides of the border.
- Within Dark Nebula, the Cluster is known as the Staai Main.
Hyades Cluster[edit]
The huge stars of the Hyades Cluster, a few parsecs to trailing, are clearly visible to the naked eye from the surface of the world.
- The tidal influence of the stars at the Cluster's core can be detected in the orbits of the system's planets and moons.
- Despite their immense distance from the world, the Cluster's stars cause interference, strange tones and noises, and constant static on commo and sensors.
Other Data[edit]
The world is the site of a Confederation-sponsored Research Station. The nature of the research being undertaken has not been made public.
Solomani Security keeps a close eye on things to ensure the security of the Confederation and the well-being of its loyal citizens. Almost anyone could be a SolSec informant, passing on all sorts of useful information: some gain a reward or benefit for their actions, others are coerced, but many see it as an act of duty to help protect the Solomani state and its interests.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ziarko has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world is host to a Confederation Naval Base.
- This world is host to a major Military Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ziarko has a population of 2,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
- The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Rim Anglic, a dialect of Anglic and the principal language of the Solomani Confederation.
- Trokh, the principal language of the Aslan Hierate.
- Minor Aslan Languages: note that some Aslan Clans retain obscure or archaic languages for personal use in addition to Trokh.

World Government (G)[edit]
Ziarko has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ziarko has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

- -2404 to -2215: The Interstellar Wars.
- -2204 to -1776: The Rule of Man administers the former Ziru Sirka.
