Hegemony: A Hegemony is an interstellar political entity, or polity, that is characterized by a very high degree of centralization, strong policies that direct the entire sectors or states, and a strong disregard for local/planetary differences.

As a generality, the members of a Hegemony have less freedom than almost any other type of a governmental power structure except an Empire.

The dominant state in a Hegemony is called the Hegemon.

Like all governments, sometimes the political terms in a polity's name may be misleading. Governments using this term in their name may actually vary greatly from the standard and accepted definition of the term.
