System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Solomanium is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Solomanium has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Solomanium has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

There are three small interconnected seas fed by a network of rivers flowing from the surrounding green mountains. Vast expanses of hardpan deserts lie beyond the watered areas. Local plateaus have been converted to irrigated tracts farmland.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The world is noted for impressively large local vegetation, with many species of tree reaching over 50 meters in height. The world has a huge range of fauna.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Solomanium was originally settled centuries ago. New immigrants have been arriving in large numbers over the last few decades, sponsored by the Confederation colonization in an effort to improve the worlds under its control. These new arrivals largely originate in the Massina and Aetna systems.

The world is a large scale agricultural producer and a major breadbasket for the central regions of the Confederation.

It rarely gets completely dark on Solomanium, as the star Beta Tauri is almost always visible.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Solomanium has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

  • Solomanium Downport has been upgraded from a Class D facility, the first stage in an ongoing process to improve the world's infrastructure.

World Population (P)[edit]

Solomanium has a population of 50,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

  • The population almost entirely consists of Solomani humans.

Urbanization[edit]

Solton is the star-town nearest the downport. It lies along a major river, downstream from some of the richest farming regions on the world.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Solomanium possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

Inexpensive molten salt nuclear fission reactors (MSR) provide the majority of power on the world.

World Government[edit]

Solomanium is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

The government is modelled on the structure of the Solomani Confederation. It is very under-resourced.

World Law Level[edit]

Solomanium has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
