Luna is a nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is the only satellite of Terra, the mainworld of the system.
- This is a tidally-locked world with one side permanently locked to a gravity source and the other permanently facing away. Most commonly locked worlds are natural satellites of a larger planet or gas giant.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world has a research station engaged in the scientific pursuit of knowledge.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Sol Subsector of Solomani Rim Sector in the Domain of Sol.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It also has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
The primary star of the Terra system is Sol, a solitary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
Terra /Sol has a solitary primary star. Sol

System Data[edit]
The primary of the Terra system is Sol, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1 Sol, a mass of 1 Sol, and a diameter of 1.391 million km. Sol retains a family of four inner rocky worlds (Mercury, Venus, Terra, and Mars), a stony planetoid belt, and four outer gas giant worlds (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune). The Kuiper Belt, an outer icy planetoid belt, exists at the system fringe but is rarely counted as a distinct world, despite containing a number of significant bodies. The system is named for Terra, the mainworld, the third world out from the star and orbiting within its habitable zone.
- Mercury
- Venus
- Terra (including Luna)
- Mars
- Ceres Belt (including Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Juno, and Amor, et al)
- Jupiter (including Ganymede & Callisto)
- Saturn (including Enceladus, Rhea & Titan)
- Uranus (including Titania)
- Neptune (including Triton)
- Kuiper Belt (including Pluto-Charon)
The Terra system has been settled for thousands of years and is dotted with facilities and constructions, space stations, satellites and probes, and numerous sophont-made objects and debris.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Luna is the satellite or moon of the system's mainworld.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
Luna, for the most part, is a featureless vacuum waste.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Luna is believed to be a lifeless ball of rock with no native lifeforms.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Luna is the only moon of Terra, the mainworld of the Terran system in Sol Subsector of the Solomani Rim.
It is a traditional destination for Terran honeymoons with several resort complexes at Copernicus catering to tourists and vacationers.
Imperial Nobility[edit]
Only the mainworld of a system possesses an officially appointed or landed Imperial Noble.
- The landed noble of this system is located at the mainworld on Terra.
- Landed Nobles may possess territories on this world as part of their in-system non-mainworld fief land grants.
World Starport[edit]
Luna has a Class F Spaceport, a good quality secondary installation for handing expected in-system traffic. It can supply amenities like brokerage services for passengers and cargo and refined fuel. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Spaceports usually consist of a Downport.
- Luna’s Copernicus Down Spaceport handles traffic control for Terra.
- Ship construction is no longer a significant industry.
World Technology Level[edit]
Luna possesses a Technology Level of TL–15 or TL-F in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Meson Communicators and Pseudo Reality Communications.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, improved collectors, and advanced Fusion+.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Advanced gravcraft.
- Air: Advanced gravcraft and speeders.
- Space: Advanced gravcraft and G-Carriers.
- FTL: Jump Drive-6.
World Government[edit]
Luna has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- Luna is the second-most important world in the system and has a political status equivalent to a continent.
- Like Terra it is under Imperial military rule -- although a native bureaucracy oversees almost all operations of government except legislation and security.
- Luna’s population has always had a democratic bent and support for the more extreme elements of the Solomani Party was low.
World Military[edit]
Imperial Naval Base at Theophilus.
World Economy[edit]
Today’s lunar economy is based around mining, ore processing and scientific research.
- This world has a research station engaged in the scientific pursuit of knowledge.
Trade Data[edit]
No information yet available.
World Demographics[edit]
Luna’s eight million people are concentrated in three population centers – Copernicus, Archimedes and Plato.
- Each of these includes domed and underground cities linked by monorails and gravitic highways.
- Another 80,000 people live and work in the mines at Sinus Iridium and the Montes Apenninus, the radio observatory Farside Station, the Imperial research laboratory at Clavius, and the Imperial Naval Base at Theophilus.
Settlements Listing[edit]
Luna has a political status equivalent to one of Terra's continents.
Northern Hemisphere
Plato Settlement[edit]
Location: Plato Crater
Coordinates: 51.6°N 9.3°W
- Domed lunar city. Plato is an academic and cultural center, and the location of the University of Luna which is famous for work in high-energy physics and astronomy.
Sinus Iridium Mining Station[edit]
Location: Sinus Iridium Plain
Coordinates: 45.01°N 31.67°W

- Domed lunar city. Copernicus is the seat of government on Luna, and the center of travel and trade.
- Copernicus Down Spaceport handles traffic control for Terra. Since the Solomani Rim War, more than half of the terminals, bays, and warehouse facilities of the spaceport lie unused and in vacuum.
- Vilani megacorporation Zirunkariish maintains extensive offices, owing to the availability of real estate within the domed lunar city of Copernicus Settlement. Zirunkariish offices here include a major trading clearinghouse, and both the Solomani Rim Sector and Sol Subsector headquarters offices.
- Trans Galactic Starlines, in partnership with Vilani megacorporation Zirunkariish have set-up alternate starports for ease of access and use with connecting in-system service provided to passengers. For the Terra system, Luna, specifically the Copernicus Down Spaceport, is used. This alternate starport has a Brubek's gastropub and a Medel's Mega Mart.

No information yet available.
Historical Data[edit]
- Luna was originally a colony of the old United States but unified as a single independent nation in -2433.
- Luna was a scientific and industrial center used for astronomical research, mining and spacecraft design and manufacture.
- Luna became a major Terran Confederation military shipyard in the Interstellar Wars and its importance as a shipyard was revived during the Long Night, when Luna built first the armed merchant cruisers of the Terran Mercantile Community and then the warships of the Old Earth Union.
- Luna lost some ground during the early Imperial era but regained it under the Solomani Confederation, which established major military and research facilities on the moon.
- During the Solomani Rim War the space around Luna was the scene of fierce battles between Confederation and Imperial Naval forces in the days before the assault on Terra.
