The Ceres Belt is a high-population ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and industrial in nature with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- As a group of industrial worldlets, well-developed manufacturing and processing sectors are major business here. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This world has a research station engaged in the scientific pursuit of knowledge.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Sol Subsector of Solomani Rim Sector in the Domain of Sol.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Today, 2.3 million live in a dozen major asteroid habitats, including over 100,000 nomadic belters.
Terra /Sol has a solitary primary star. Sol

System Data[edit]
The primary of the Terra system is Sol, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1 Sol, a mass of 1 Sol, and a diameter of 1.391 million km. Sol retains a family of four inner rocky worlds, a stony planetoid belt called the Ceres Belt on Imperial star charts but known simply as the "Main Belt", or "The Belt" to locals, and four outer gas giant worlds. The Kuiper Belt, an outer icy planetoid belt, exists at the system fringe but is rarely counted as a distinct world, despite containing a number of significant bodies. The system is named for Terra, the mainworld, the third world out from the star and orbiting within its habitable zone.
- Mercury
- Venus
- Terra (including Luna)
- Mars
- Ceres Belt (including Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Juno, and Amor, et al)
- Jupiter (including Ganymede & Callisto)
- Saturn (including Enceladus, Rhea & Titan)
- Uranus (including Titania)
- Neptune (including Triton)
- Kuiper Belt (including Pluto-Charon)
Worldlets & Bodies[edit]
Worldlets and bodies with significant non-transient settlements include Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Juno, and Amor (see below).
Ceres[edit]
- The largest settlement in the Belt is on the dwarf planet Ceres, the largest member of the Belt, from which it takes its current name.
Pallas[edit]
- No information currently available.
Vesta[edit]
- No information currently available.
Juno[edit]
- No information currently available.
Amor[edit]
- A small enclave of uplifted dolphins lives in a humid zero-G environment inside the hollowed-out planetoid of Amor.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Terra system Asteroid Belt, also known as the "Ceres Belt", or simply as the "Main Belt" or just "The Belt" to locals, is a historically important settlement in the Terran system in Sol Subsector of the Solomani Rim.
- The Belt was settled as early as -2430 for mining and scientific research and was the site of the Terran invention of jump drives.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Only the mainworld of a system possesses an officially appointed or landed Imperial Noble.
- The landed noble of this system is located at the mainworld on Terra.
- Landed Nobles may possess territories within the belt as part of their in-system non-mainworld fief land grants.
World Starport[edit]
The Ceres Belt has a Class F Spaceport, a good quality secondary installation for handing expected in-system traffic. It can supply amenities like brokerage services for passengers and cargo and refined fuel. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Spaceports usually consist of a Downport.
World Technology Level[edit]
The Ceres Belt possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-5.
World Government[edit]
The Ceres Belt has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
